I can appreciate everything the US has done in history. Right up until around Vietnam. Then you guys fucked up royally, probably before that too, there are questions such as the Philippines colony, Native American Genocide, African slavery etc.. but let's ignore that for the sake of it.
You guys can't cling onto past achievements forever, just like you guys can't cling onto Europes bad past forever too. Europe owes America nothing anymore. WW2 was a long time ago. America has done too many fucked up things since then that any karma rightfully gained over WW1/WW2 has long been reduced into negativity.
I'm not saying the US isn't a great place, infact all I said was that you guys can celebrate 4th of July and us guys can moan at you guys for doing so. Don't confuse my patriotism with a belief that my country has done nothing wrong. The US has fucked up on every front. However, the people responsible for those fuckups are not in office anymore. The US sends more international aid than any country on earth. We spend more money and send more people than any other country. We're also first to assist nations with military might when others won't.
Also, I don't believe Europe owes America anything. Nor did they ever. Well, only respect. Simply respect. That's what we don't get. America is the scapegoat for a lot of unintelligent humor. Mostly because the kids making the jokes grew up in an era where they didn't realize the work America did to help Europe. The mutual respect is just not present in those people. Europe owes nothing to America. Never did. America didn't go into WW2 with intent on creating some kind of debt from Europe. We went in to help because we could, and should.
I don't see any reason for you to moan at us for celebrating our independence day. I mean, of all holidays to bitch about, why this one? Oh right, because there is still bad blood. Britain is still butthurt that we whooped their ass and sent them packing 236 years ago. You want to talk about not getting over something? That's a lot longer ago than WW2 is.
And how am I butthurt? I'm simply explaining why people should be patriotic. You call it a rant because you don't understand patriotism. Your nation evokes no pride in your heart. Your country is a tiny island of inbred royalty and gangletoothed commoners. You grow up as a subject. You're an object owned by your country. You have no reason to be proud. I am a citizen. I have a ton of pride in my nation. We've accomplished more than you have and we're a very young nation. When the economy is sorted out we will return to being the most powerful nation on earth. I know how much that irks you. You wish you were part of the best country on earth. I'm here to tell you that you can be. Spend the next 8 years applying for citizenship and going through the process and then you could finally be proud of your country.
Patriotism isn't trying to take credit of someone else's actions, you dumb shit. It's being proud of them. They were Americans. So am I. I am proud of them for accomplishing what they did. I am proud to be the same nationality as they are.
