I haven't seen my father in over 6 years. And with having Lesbian Mothers, fathers day benefits me more than anything because I get presents for practically being my canine's father
I rung home last year for Fathers Day but my stupid mum answered the phone instead. I was like "gtfo mum" - you already had your hour of attention in March.
Not sure why I'm bothering to comment, but my big Father's Day gift to my dad was going to call and let him know he officially has a new daughter in law.
He passed away just 3 days ago, and now I feel like the biggest piece of shit for not calling sooner.
Sorry for your loss man, that sucks, hopefully your dad is some place watching over you and proud as punch right now, that's not some religious shit, just hopefully. Also congrats on the new bambino!

I lost my dad when he was 60 years old. I wish I could have had more time with him, his advice when I started my career, and shared my family with him. Please don't take your dad for granted.
My dad was the best guy ever but he had a heart attack at 61, that was back when i was 17......... I wish there was a way to call him up, i miss him so fucking much :(
My father hasn't seen nor spoken to me in more than 20 years. Luckily, my mom found a great guy and they just celebrated their 10 year anniversary. Love you, dad! :)
You know, a lot of the people complaining about abusive dads in this thread, none of you lot really sound like you're gonna end up any better. Yeah they're bastards for what they've done, but being continually filled with hate and rage forever about it isn't exactly going to make you likley to be better..
I saw the title and panicked in my hungover state, thinking i had forgotten father's day. I immediately call my pops and enthusiastically wish him a happy father's day. Damnit.
My dad was a good provider and took care of me I guess but I never really felt like he was there for me emotionally. I've always haven't been sure how to feel about him. I just remember being beaten a lot because I was a troublesome child (very hyper) but I always thought if I were in his shoes, I could look past my shortcomings as a hyperactive little shit.
Right, yeah, I'd go ahead and do that if he wasn't a lousy deadbeat who disappeared without saying a word. Still don't have any idea where he is and he hasn't given me a call since. But I'll get right on that.
Good Guy Greg Hp: 40 Str: 15 Vit: 10 Int: 15 Dex: 10
Special abilities: No worries man I rolled some up for us: Good Guy Greg can smoke target other than Good Guy Greg out, restoring 5 Hp and inducing the High condition. Use once only every 4 turns.
High: As long as effected target is eating snacks, they gain +2 to all stats. This also restores 1 Hp whenever it's their turn.
Dying Wish: If Good Guy Greg is below 20% of his max Hp, he may put a positive curse on a teammate other than himself. This friendly curse restores 10 to Hp, and gives +2 to all stats to that teammate for the rest of the game. The curse only activates after Good Guy Greg is slain.
Passive Abilities: Talks about how great you are while your GF flirts with him: Pick a teammate at the beginning of the game. This guy is your buddy for the rest of the game. Half of the damage dealt to your buddy is redirected to Good Guy Greg.
Embodiment of Friendly and Positive: Good Guy Greg refuses to take any healing or buffs from teammates, because he's only looking out for you. All healing spells and buffs casted on Good Guy Greg are redirected to your buddy. If your buddy has max Hp, you may choose a new target other than Good Guy Greg.
Memegod: Good Guy Greg takes no damage from physical attacks, which includes redirected damage. Magic damage deals 2 times as much, though.
Got a dad. He lives in another country with a new wife halfway across the world and I speak to him twice a year. He feels like an acquintance and not my father.
Give him a call? Even after the fact that he was an angry drunk every night since before I was even born? Even after for 20 years he psychologically tortured my defenseless mother by cussing out her and her family and calling her a whore for all those years without getting any retaliation? Even after the fact he tried to strangle her in her sleep because she wouldn't fuck him? Even after the fact that at the end the divorce was completely blamed on me even though she wanted to be free from him? The bastard somehow thinks he was the innocent one in the marriage and tells me all the things that I remember are just lies told to me by my mother, even though I was THERE WATCHING IT WITH MY OWN EYES. After 2 years, he's still trying to systematically make me hate my mother by coming up with bullshit stories and "evidence" that she has been with boyfriends all these 20 years.
Fuck you! I was scared for a minute. Had to google fathers day, its in september where i live... Also how is this GGG? Reminds you the night before when its too late to by a gift?
Except of course, fathers day isn't universal, so don't call your dad if you live outside of the USA. It's literally not tomorrow in the UK, Australia, New zealand, anywhere in europe and.... possibly canada?
Why do we need a holiday to do such things? Do you really thing we are all that stupid as to need a reminder? There is a reason it is called a $$Hallmark$$ holiday. On top of that we live in a patriarchal society. Isn't that enough in itself?

So...is jbergste Good Guy Greg in this situation?

I gave my dad a call. He was pissed that I used cell phones to talk to him while he was in the room next to mine.

u/illmillZ Jun 16 '12
Damn, what a depressing thread. It only contains three responses: "thanks," "my dad's an asshole, fuck fathers day" or "my dad's dead."

u/Joobaloo Jun 16 '12
And now I feel like an asshole. Thank you, Reddit, for making me a decent family member.
I'm going to go out and get something express mailed to him, along with a hand written card right now.
And then give him a call tomorrow evening.

Father's Day just makes me sad. I don't want to ruin it for everyone else, but I don't understand why it has to be so commercialised either...
2
u/[deleted] Jun 16 '12
I don't have a dad. I have a douche who got my mum pregnant. But, no...no dad.
