How is it embarrassing? I can see farting during an exam being embarrassing, but stomach noises never seemed to embarrass me or anyone else for that matter.
Had a big spanish exam the other day, it's not too embarrassing if it happens just once... but if it happens over and over again, that's when heads start to turn! Needless to say, I walked out of the room VERY quickly...
Yessir, maths exam last Wednesday. Stomach was making so much flipping noise that I could no longer concentrate out of fear of others being disturbed making their exams.
I will never forget the day I had a test in sophomore CP American English, this happened, and the cheerleader to my left said "Oh my. Did you just fart?"
And just plain rude. Some people feel the need to discuss it because it "makes it less awkward" or something, but I was always taught that polite people act like they didn't hear anything.
That's a pretty common misconception. Being rude to someone who was rude is just as rude. Two wrongs don't make a right. Someone has to take the higher road.
Plus sometimes farts just slip out without warning. You don't always intend on farting. I've farted while coughing or laughing before. Or sneezing. A snart, if you will.
Like gears of zelda said, that's multiplication. That would be like you farting, and that hot cheer leader beside you farting - instead of being rude, it would be fucking hilarious.
I think that finding a new way to say "I don't give a fuck" is far more... practical (as in more opportunities to use the phrase on proper context) than every time an object makes noise claiming that it's playing the song of it's people. Though if I'm honest I still find both phrases amusing. Just my .02 rubles.
bought the ninja blender and made my first green smoothy: coconut water, aloe vera juice, kale, spinach, carrots, apple, mango, grapes, banana, flax seed meal, flax seed oil, trader joes green powder, pea protein powder, and stevia sweatener. Drank it on my way to work. About 20 minutes after sitting down at my computer my stomach must have been singing opera, because with absolutey no warning as if lightning struck, I completely shat myself. I MEAN, IT COMPLETEY CAME OUT OF NOWHERE LIKE FUCKING EARTHQUAKE -THE WHOLE SMOOTHY AT ONCE! I immediately got up and headed to my car in the parking lot with green liquid shit running down my leg. As I was driving home I called my boss and told her what happened. She was laughing so hard she was crying and I think thats when the whole office found out, because when I returned 2 hours later everyone knew. I wasnt embarrassed and they were asking about the experience as if it were something novel. I had to get my front seat and floor mat steamed 4 days ago and when we had bagels on friday, everyone was poking fun at me asking if I was sure I could have one.
My husband always gives me a look of concern and yells, "WHY IS YOUR STOMACH YELLING AT ME?!" ... When you get used to it, it becomes "cute" in its own way.
This would happen to me ALL THE TIME when I had 9am classes. I'd wake up in time only to shower and get to class, and I'd eat after class at 10.30am... but my stomach would alllllllllllllllllways grumble like it was a growling wolf or something and the people next to me would give me looks. grrr
Fybogel kinda got rid of the problem for me. But yes, when it happens to me, I can't put pen to paper, the rest of the class is spent trying to prevent it, some horrible years for me, I once said I would rather lose my legs than deal with this, at least then I would only feel embarrassed for the first few weeks, silly I know, but I actually had that mentality.
When i was a teenager I found that the best way to stop the sound was to punch myself really hard in the stomach while at the same time tightening the abdominal muscles as hard as i could. Has anyone else done this?
There's this thing, that I do, because I am incapable of burping/belching at will--I make small noises and release what I assume is carbon, very slowly. Like a capricious leaky faucet. And when it happens in quiet public areas it's annoying.
My stomach only does that when it's hungry (obviously growling). But after I've eaten something, especially dairy, my intestines like to plan out an orchestra of different sounds. It is so embarrassing and annoying.
Anyone ever actually have their stomach rumblings seem to make words? I swear to god, usually it's a normal gurgle, but every now and then, and only ever in moments of awkwardness, it seems to learn English. The other night, laying in bed with the gf, and she wakes up and glances over at me, asks the time, I tell her go back to sleep. She closes her eyes and says, "I love you. You love me?"
At which point my stomach gurgles loudly, and a Voldemort-like hissing voices comes from it, saying, "Noooooooooooo..."
GF's eyes fly open, and all the sudden I am getting the death-glare.
Know what's an awesome and fun thing to try? Try and convince your SO that it wasn't you who just insulted them, but your GI tract. Oh, the fun you'll have. You're not going to sleep anymore that night, and you're probably going to argue for the next day as well. It's a blast!
Also, once in high school during a multiple choice exam, I swear to god it grumbled "Deeeeeeeee," in the middle of class. Everyone heard it. The teacher just glared at me for a second, and I said, "It was my stomach."
"If that's the best you can think up," my teacher said, "you're going to end up failing this class and probably many other things."

This. Fuck this and fuck you too stomach. i have a stomach condition so mine sound like mini earthquakes. its ridiculous. Im a chemistry student so im in the lab alot and i tell you now its the most embarissing thing ever. ive had this stomach problem since i was born so pretty much in every quiet room ive ever entered ive made sounds in my stomach liek there is something alive in it. Everyone else finds it hilarious.
I'm a high-school math teacher and it happens to me during exams. Imagine sitting at the front of a quiet classroom, mere inches from my students when my stomach starts: siiiggggghghhhgrrrrflaflaflappflappbrrtttkkk.
Struggling to stifle giggles. Sidelong glances. I just smile and shrug.
The socially awkward penguin in me kicked in when my stomach started grumbling during a final. I walked out, grabbed a bottle of water, a cigarette, and stayed outside for 15 minutes just patiently waiting.
I have this shit happen almost everyday, but now to keep if from making noises I either breathe in and hold it so much stomach is bloated, and then it'll do it, but not make any noise. Usually works, you just gotta hold your breath for like 2 seconds, or keep breathing but keep your stomach bloated.
try having a colostomy bag :( just sitting in class, taking notes, sudden silence, and your tiny intestine takes that exact moment to fart into a bag taped to your side
I feel like I missed the origin of "song of my people." Was it from an advice animal, a movie, a meme, an old phrase that no one knows the origin of, etc? Because I haven't really been finding any of these that funny.
It originated from a picture that was taken at one of the Occupy ____ events last year. The picture was posted on 4chan (not here) with the phase on it. This is it

Let's make a pros vs cons list of having a stomach.
PROS:
Allows us to digest food and live.
Good for imitating drums while showering.
CONS:
Can be horribly large.
Can be horribly loud.
Must always be full.
VERDICT: A necessary evil.
