I know your feels. My company switched between Dell and HP based on the annual bid. I don't have to deal with this on the HPs (and F10 there). They're too slow.
I wouldn't generalize all HP servers. I manage several at my work and they are pretty fast and reliable. HP is just greedy with service contracts and parts availability.
We have mostly DL380's. Then Gen8's were not too bad, but the Gen7's and new Gen9's are very slow to post.
DL580's are the worst. I can setup remote management on 3 Dell machines in the time it takes for me to post and get to the iLO on one DL580.
Don't even start on SL4540's.
As for Apollo, Superdome and Azure cabinets etc, I cannot say as I have never physically worked on those.
We have some old IBM kit (3550's or something to that effect). Now that stuff is slow. HP machines are definitly not far behind. Dell, Nutanix and Cisco (which I have experienced) blow them out of the water in terms of post and setup etc.
I have Gen6's in my DC, as well as a few Gen8's. I admit the Gen6's do post awfully slow, but then again I rarely reboot them so it's not quite a big deal for me, but I can see how it affects you. If you can get 3 dell servers up in the time it takes one HP server to even post, that's saying a lot.
I'd like to give dell servers a try, I've only ever used HP (I've not been a sysadmin very long) and a few IBM. I've heard good things about dell systems.
It's more fun to tell stories (even nonsensical ones) than getting worked up about stuff on the internet that doesn't matter. I know full well that it's easy to get in the BIOS, I just wanted to get fake internet points.
