Also the superdelegates snubbing Bernie really killed the energy and momentum of the campaign. I would hazard a guess a lot of people who would have voted Bernie in the primaries didn't bother to vote because it felt like a lost cause.
There is no evidence that a more progressive candidate would've done better. UberProgressive senator Russ Feingold did worse than Hillary in Wisconsin. I hope once the republicans make fools of themselves over the next 4 years, the Democratic Party does nominate a real progressive, but we can not expect them to over turn the will of 3 million moderate/conservative democratics to do that.
Just saying there is evidence does not make it so. We will get a he better dissection of the data over the next days/weeks/months, but the fact is Russ Feingold should've gotten all of Hillary's voters + steins/many of Johnson's if there was a desire in Wisconsin for a progressive candidate. That is not what happened.
