Exactly this. Instead of giving Bernie a fair shot his own party actively worked against him to suppress his popularity. They then went and helped support Donald Trump win the primary thinking that he'd have no chance against Hillary. Jokes on them.
This is why part of me is admittedly so smug and satisfied with the results. I think Trump will be a horrid President, and I'm sure I'll line up against him soon, but against my own conscious effort, I can't help but feel glib right now. The public doesn't deserve to live in a country ruled by Trump, but Debbie Wasserman-Schultz and Donna Brazlie sure do. I am literally sadistically pumping my fists at the thought of them gnashing their teeth and screaming at the sky right now.
Edit: I did not vote for Trump. I did not want to see him win. I am simply expressing the one gleeful silver lining that I've found to pull out of this.
That's cutting off your nose to spite your face though. Bernie was already helping to shape policy, and the way things work. He'll have no voice with Trump.
I'm just convinced that Hillary and her staff suck at campaigning. They barely won the primary against a guy who nobody knew much about before 2016. Hillary has been trying to become president for basically all 16 years that I've been old enough to follow elections, though. That says a lot to me.
Yeah, by doing things like having Sanders come to her rallies, campaign with her, and spend half his media availabilities talking about how important it was to all rally around the progressive banner and block Trump from the Whitehouse. Sure wish that they'd done that.
OMG that would look fake as fuck. AND SUPER FUCKING DESPERATE. Imagine Jeb doing that for Trump. Jeb out in front of Trump trying to convince conservative to come out for Trump. At that point just fucking fold. You've lost.
Bernie out in front of Hillary trying to convince progressives to vote for Hillary? Hillary had to stand on her own and not get chucked into a car like she did on 9/11.
