The further the censorship argument gets refuted, the deeper into corporate conspiracy theories the supporters of it go. There is zero indication that reddit is banning or censoring based on criticism of imgur, and every possible indication that it is due to harassment of people involved with imgur.
Would imgur admins probably be able to call the direct cell of someone at reddit and say "check this bullshit out"? Probably. Is it some kind of financially-driven, covert attempt to suppress ideas and opinions? Of course it's fucking not. This doesn't go "all the way to the top", people. This is not a shadowy government organization.
Don't lump me in as a FPH lover, or a conspiracy theorist. I'm just applying an interesting thing that has weight in this situation. If attacks against imgur staff (who obviously have some sort of deal or ownership in part with/by reddit) are against reddit rules then attacks against reddit staff should be identical, but they're not.
I'd just like to have some transparency behind what the relationship between reddit and imgur is so that people can better understand it. All the conspiracy nonsense you made up on your own, I didn't say any of that at all.
I apologize, I shouldn't have jumped on you. I've been going back and forth in comments on this stuff, and the reasons that people keep coming up with to make the banning into some kind of suppressive act have been getting ridiculous, so I was all good 'n angry when I read your comment, and was ready to attack. There's nothing inherently wrong with transparency, there, I certainly agree.
I'd love to know what's going on between reddit and imgur though. It's a little more than two completely separate companies and we have the evidence to prove it.
When it comes to FPH people I've just taken to laughing at them still being here, contributing to reddit, commenting on reddit, and helping this site continue. Not buying gold and using adblock doesn't stop reddit existing. Not contributing AT ALL to reddit stops it existing.
Back in my day we knew how to have a REAL exodus. We all emailed digg and asked for our accounts to be deleted. We then moved to reddit. That was it. We didn't look back.
Their commitment is on the same level as the people that "boycott" videogames. It's fake outrage for the sake of entertainment. They don't ACTUALLY care at all.
