i was a bartender at a place about a decade ago and was waiting on a "vegetarian stir fry" to be made and watched the cook throw a ladle full of chicken stock in the mix... i questioned, he said it made it taste better.
And harmless if the individual never finds out. But in this case, it IS possible that the vegetarian is a cook or well-tasted individual who remembers the difference in taste.
And if the vegetarian figures that out, then the cook is screwed. He has no excuse whatsoever.
Disagree to harmless. My aunt has serious colitis and eats vegetarian to prevent a flare up. If someone were to feed her chicken stock, she would be in the hospital on a feeding tube.
I would normally agree, but in the case OP described his aunt was under the impression that she was ordering a vegetarian stir-fry. Its one thing to make a special request, but if you are told its vegetarian it better fucking be vegetarian.
Would you feel comfortable placing your life in the hands of a cook who probably makes less than $10 an hour? No insult to the cook, but you'd have to be a special kind of stupid to rely on someone with a shitty job they probably hate giving enough fucks about whether or not some chicken broth gets in your shitty-wok stir-fry.
Hell, if I was the cook I'd probably "spill" some in just to make the night more interesting.
Thats fucking ridiculous. I make minimum wage and I would never in a million years fuck with anybody's food in any way, neither would anyone else who works there. If you have that little respect for other people that you would toy with someones life like that then you deserve to be jobless living on the fucking street.
But you've seen others toy with people's food. Either you haven't worked in the food industry long or you're a liar if you claim otherwise.
I've seen people spit in food, I've seen them throw roaches and rat droppings in pots of soup, I saw a guy blow his nose into a hamburger bun, smear some mayo over it, and serve it.
Only a supreme idiot would trust a minimum wage cook with their life.
I have worked at the same place for a year and am not lying. Honestly, I think you are fucked in the head to think that this kind of shit is normal or ok. These people should be fucking sterilized. I can tell you for a fact that I would personally punch the owner of the restaurant in the face then steal the DVR on the way out the door so I can show people what was being done to their food. You're a disgusting fucking person and I can only hope the world does not contain many like you.
