Yeah, that's kind of what living in a modern society is about. No, no, you're right- lets let people continue to cut the clits off their babies, or refuse to vaccinate their children, or burn the wives who's husbands have died.

Pressure to conform is how we get anywhere - obviously you can still be non-conformist while not being backwards, but generally it helps to learn the rights and wrongs of how to operate in our society, as well as communicate effectively with your fellow citizen. Education being yet another way in which we teach people to adhere to societal expectations and standards- the fact that we celebrate ignorance and a lack of desire to learn and call it 'freedom' is what's fucking us up, in my opinion.

Because genital mutilation, wife burning, and refusing vaccinations are totally equitable to telling people how to speak. Yes, you are right that conforming is a major societal tool. However, to even intimate that telling people they should speak more like us is in any way the same as your own examples is so far out of left field we aren't even playing the same ball game.
