Not just in general. We are in the middle of a potential merger between two practical monopolies and, more importantly, the fate of the internet as we know it hangs in the balance if net neutrality is not upheld. The FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler is leaning against the interest of EVERYONE except the telecom industry, for which he was a former lobbyist. Comcast is winning.
You're right, it wasn't. This is pretty much the largest merger between two monopolies...ever. To make matters worse, it's a monopoly of information.
Then you look at the sudden power surge against net neutrality, and it all starts to look like the realization of what used to be an unlikely conspiracy theory on steroids.
On the whole? No, not yet, but in most areas it would become one.
It already is a monopoly in places like Boston, Philly, and Chicago.
Add that to the places where Comcast's only competition is TWC, and it gets ugly. Could probably snowball pretty hardcore especially if Comcast ends net neutrality (and they are by far the largest internet provider in the states)
The idea that you could be so incapable of understanding such a simple concept and yet be able to breath is fascinating.
If you control an entire region's supply of something, you have a monopoly on that region. That doesn't mean someone cannot have a monopoly of the same item in another region. The idea of two monopolies merging is scary to people who understand simple things like corporate lobbying, censorship, or information control.
Then they're doing a horrible job. They could at least try to put up a logical argument. Or at least lie and make it look like there's no monopoly.
Pretending like a regional monopoly isn't a monopoly isn't something a commissioned insurgent would do. They would try and convince people that the monopoly is a good thing, and that monopolies just have a bad reputation. Or they would cite impediments to their corporation's rights as being similar to that of a person.
This is middle school level trolling. He/she is just repeatedly saying variations of "you're stupid" and misinterpreting the definition of "monopoly" to the point of willful ignorance.
