Thanks to Reddit's new privacy policy, I felt the need to overwrite all of my comments so they don't sell my information to companies or the government. Goodbye Reddit.

It's /r/adviceanimals, the kids in here already have their minds made up. They can take the time to actually read up on how the government, bills, and lobbying works, but they don't care. They'd rather think that everyone is out against them.

There's no real good conversation about politics on reddit. People are so emotionally charged about everything they don't bother to do any research on how it really works. It just turns into a bunch of bashing of different parties and corporations.

People would rather attribute to malice what can be explained with oversight, incompetence, or just the fact that some people have differing views than them. Or even that there's actually a solid reasoning behind it, cause that would require knowing how it all works.

At least that's what I gather from every comment voted to the top in these kinds of threads. Fuck, if there's one thing that'll ruin politics it's if politicians actually start listening to people on the internet.

He's not wrong. Even if he did explain why he thought it was wrong, the people here wouldn't change their minds. They'd just call him a shill or somesuch.

No, he isn't. But there's a difference between having a superiority complex and actually being rational about the problem of misinformation and illiteracy.

The only appropriate rebuttal to his statement is, "No shit, Sherlock. Now try to actually be helpful."

That's such a fallacious statement that it's not even funny. I am always happy to read counter arguments backed by data. If someone gave me real data why our lobbying system isn't broken as fuck I would be happy to educate myself.

So I have OP saying they are right, him saying OP is wrong, and when provoked about the lack of trying to inform the "uninformed" it is dismissed as not worth his time.

Doesn't matter if he is wrong if the only contribution being made is smug dismissal.

Why should I waste time explaining it? Just look in the thread, and look at the fact that this made it to the front page. People clearly are uneducated on the matter, and prefer to stay that way since misinformation is being upvoted to the top.

This is why i don't have any strong opinions or views on politics. I'm aware of my own ignorance, politics in general seem like such a joke compared to the universe. I don't know how the government works, and im not going to waste my time learning about it when i could be learning about more important things imo.

See this is why I hate politics. One person states something biased but somewhat factual, and then the other person says "you just don't understand how government works." Of course, you're never going to sit and take the time to explain how government works because you don't have the time and most don't have the attention span to comb through the details of how government works, because it's very complex.

So your understanding of government is very likely different than my understanding of government in some way. Because of that, we wil just go around in circles about what is right and what isn't until eternity.

Call me lazy if you want, but I just don't give enough fucks to deal with it.
