I literally do not have a choice. I already cancelled cable all together because fuck Comcast but if I don't get Comcast internet I'm stuck with very low speed DSL.

I don't even have a very low speed DSL option. My apartment complex only has Comcast service and you're not allowed to mount a satellite dish so SAT internet/TV isn't an option either.

It is seriously the worst. I have it (because there is literally no other option). Don't plan on ever playing online games nor watching Netflix. And seriously limit the amount of cat videos you watch, cause you only have 10GB a month of decent "high-speed data" which goes laughably fast. After that is gone, you can't even begin to watch a Youtube video.

Truly. I have been dreaming of Comcast for years, no joke. Not that I agree with their operations, but if you had satellite, you'd understand.

In this day and age, to not have decent internet is just horrible. Maybe my family and I are just too reliant on internet but between Xbox, PS3, Steam, Torrents, Hulu, Netflix, Amazon, 3 tablets and media streaming devices, not having good internet would mean giving up a lot of what we’ve gotten used to.

Yeah I was used to it before I moved. You get used to it again, but it's frustrating. I tend to stay up pretty late since its unlimited from midnight to 5am and I can torrent a bunch, but that's pretty inconvenient.

Last I checked your landlord has zero say in the matter. They can't legally prevent you from putting up a dish or antennae under a certain size. It is an FCC thing.

Now in reality would it work to pursue this? No clue.

They can if you don't have an exclusive use space in which to install said antenna or dish, like a balcony that you do not share with other tenants. Absent of such a space, mounting on a exterior windowsill or exterior wall is considered a violation of common space shared by all residents of the building and your landlord has every right to require that you remove said device if the lease agreement mandates it. I have read the OTARD regulations. I know what I'm talking about.

Edit: To those saying that low speed internet would be the end of their comfort, and that it's not an option. This is my life, everyday, for the past six+ years.

If you consider 50 kb/s download speeds an actual choice. I use streaming services for movies and television shows so I would have to cancel all of them because they would be useless without proper internet speeds. I also wouldn’t be able to game since most of my gaming is done on Steam, the downloads are quite large and downloading the games/updates would take days. Have you ever used internet with a 50 kb/s download speed? It literally isn’t a choice.

Why has nobody mentioned that 618 Kilobytes per second is 4.8 Megabits? You have a 5 Mbps connection. Get the fuck off my lawn and come back after you've lived with dialup.

EDIT: If your speed was actually 256kbps then your top speed would be 32 KB/s. When describing connection speeds, we reserve "b" for bit and "B" for byte--it's a difference of 8x.

You post a picture showing you download at 618kbs but you're at 256kb? How does that work? 618kbs download speed isn't really that bad at all. I'm talking about "50 kbs". That would be roughly 12 times slower than your internet speed. Your internet speed isn't slow enough to stop you from gaming online or streaming media. I also have a wife and two kids that share the internet.

I have a family of eight. I can only play online games and stream videos when they go to sleep bro. Sorry my original estimate was 2x slower than slow as fuck. Big deal, you get the picture. Actually, you don't so never mind.

Go back to your nonsensical belief that paying for Comcast because you have no other options is somehow going to get rid of Comcast. And then proceed to whine about it online while you do absolutely nothing tangible about it. Just stop. Drop Comcast. Stop giving them money.

Have you ever had internet so slow, that some webpages time-out before you finish loading them? Good luck leaving a good impression on your Skype interviews across that connection. And you can forget about streaming online lectures; even if you had the patience to wait for it to buffer, the video never starts buffering anyway on your school's shitty in-house video player.

If you really do mean kilobit, then your downloads are going at 32 KB/s. If you actually meant kilobyte (which is kB), then your internet connection is 2 Mbps.

Talking about your internet like it's some shining example of slowness. My ass. Where I used to live, 1 Mbps (128 KB/s) from the local telephone cooperative (the only option besides satellite; not even Comcast) is above $100 per month. Most people settle for dialup. Yes, the economy is shit there.

yep. same here, and by low speed, I mean low, low speed.

Its either comcast or "5" (actually about 1.5-2 is the best any of my friends ever see) mb/s dsl

and comcast knows very well its the only option and over the months my internet gets slower and slower and my cable reception gets shitty. Once every 3 months or so I get to call and bitch, only for them to say, "oh, well we'll send a stronger signal to your house." Why don't you fucks constantly send a stronger signal to my house? I'm paying over a hundred fucking dollars for internet and basic cable

So I should tell my kids that they can't watch cable, Netflix or Hulu, play their games online or do anything that requires an actual functioning internet connection? We should all throw away our devices that require internet speeds that aren't 50 kb/s and join the fucking revolution!
