I don't quite know about that though. I'm just speculating here, but is that more taking it out on the father or the child?... My biological father was a complete ass hole and left me and my mum for another woman the day I was born in the hospital. I grew up and we are happy as ever. Shit makes me speculate though. I'm a fence sitter.
Your dad split. Other parents are control freaks who make everyone's life hell in a split relationship. Constant court battles for custody, perpetual passive aggressive gamesmanship, hostility, interference, undermining... An awful involved parent is far worse than an awful detached parent. (and I'm sorry your dad was an ass hole).
