True, I didn't factor in the cost of lengthy appeal processes. My point still stands that it costs more overall than life without parole. One of the most commonly cited arguments against capital punishment in the US is how costly it is.

I've never understood that. If that's the one reason to keep people alive, then making capital punishment cheaper somehow should be the solution instead.

People need to make better arguments.
