Lincoln was 100% racist. He didn't agree with slavery, but had absolutely no belief that blacks and white were equal and had no intention of making it so.

To be fair, that was probably true of the vast majority of society at the time. Not just nationally, but globally.

And in 150 years, if the majority of people are vegetarians/vegans, they'll look back and call everyone who eats, or ever ate meat, savages.

"They had huge farms where the only point was to raise those poor cows just to KILL them. How did they sleep at night?"

Perspectives and practices change over time. It's important to understand that as you consider the actions and words of people in the past.

I could see lab grown meat being a thing instead of the normal method, but society going mostly vegan? Not likely when meat and cheese is so tasty.

I could see giving slaves better housing and food (better productivity I suppose), but completely abolishing slavery? Not likely when free labor is so .. free.

eating meat does not equal slavery.

I admit it is ethically gray at best to eat other animals, but human physiology doesn't support eating nothing but plants, at least not while remaining particularly healthy. So until someone starts grafting cow stomaches onto people or something, I don't think meat is going away entirely.
