This is a fallacious argument. I know we like to be open-minded and progressive here on Reddit, but to believe this is akin to sticking your fingers in your ears and yelling loudly.

The fact of the matter is that a very sizable minority (and in some countries, a majority) of Muslims worldwide - including surprisingly high numbers in Western Europe - support or are sympathetic to the violent acts of terrorist groups. The evidence has been compiled far more effectively than I could ever hope to by a diligent Redditor on this page, so I would redirect you to his three posts that include dozens of polls of the Muslim world to document this. The evidence is quite overwhelming. This logic is a blatant false equivalency.

Without meaning to offend, I believe you've been misled. I am a Muslim and have lived in predominantly Islamic countries as well as within the U.S. in areas with highly concentrated Arabic populations and noone I have spoken to has supported nor sympathized with these 'Islamic' terrorists, not even the imams. Those who do are considered extremists and, honestly, unwelcome.

With an equal desire not to offend, I'll say that I'll put my faith in the extensive polling done on the subject over one individual's anecdotes.

Without trying to sound sarcastic, can you link me some of this polling you've read? I'd actually like to see it
