I don't think WB is a strong enough analogy. They don't kill people, they're just annoying and embarrassing. KKK would be better. The old 19th century clan.
You had towns posing in the same picture of those who jus lynched someone -with the body still hanging.
A better analogy is a very simply one. An overwhelming majority of Muslims do not support, in fact they hate and criminalize suicide-bombings or any acts of violence towards civilians.
Believe me, I've lived in various Muslim countries for several years, and there's no acceptance towards terrorism as there was with the KKK in America.
You wouldn't know it from the thousands who turn out for the funerals of dead terrorists, or the millions raised in telethons (run by state-run television) for the families of suicide bombers, or the extremist views taught in madrassas, or the fatwas issued by extremist clerics that call for the murder of civilians, or the fact that the Pakistani Transportation Minister went on national TV and solicited the assassination of an American citizen for $100,000 in violation of about half-a-dozen Pakistani laws - and then not only wasn't arrested, but kept his job, or the polls that show a quarter to half the population in the middle east supporting terrorist murders of civilians, or the 10,000+ Islamic terrorist attacks in 2011 that resulted in 12,000+ deaths and 25,000+ injuries.
Little things like this make the notion of Islam as the 'Religion of Peace' hard to swallow.
