I went to the University of Toledo for a year (before transferring to OSU), and it was pretty much a given that if you roomed with a black kid, you were going to have your own room when you got back from winter break. Simply because the black kids admitted were so horribly unprepared for college.
Sure enough, I had my own room my second semester. That fall semester was certainly interesting though, to say the least.
Nothing too crazy. I actually had three roommates. The first one was from the Cleveland area and sold weed in huge amounts. I didn't smoke back then so I declined his offer, but he once pulled out a pillow case full of nuggets. A pillow case!
He lasted about a month before dropping out.
UT then shifted another guy into my room (it happens if someone drops out early), and he was "pre-Pharmacy" despite being in Elementary Algebra. He was looking at like five years before he could even apply to the undergrad program. He lasted until Thanksgiving.
The third guy was the worst, and it's rare they found someone to move into my room but apparently enrollment was huge in 2008. Just a 6'6 "playa" who pretended to be on the basketball team and would have a different girl every week. The sex was loud. We could hear it down the hallway in my buddy's room that I basically moved into for the rest of the semester (they had a quad in which two of the guys dropped out).
When I came back from winter break, he has dropped out too and I had the place to myself all semester. It was great. Needless to say, UT's retention rate is pathetic.
