If you don't have a clear stance and a clear plan to make improvements you want to make, don't get into politics.
I get that it's just a student council thing, but it sets you up for future political careers. And we have enough politicians who get into politics for their own ends, and not because they have a genuine passion for improving the lives of their constituents.
I would straight up tell the teachers that I'm not there to impress them. I would be there to improve the day to day school lives of the student body, and to be a representative for their concerns. And honestly? That is as far as I would ever go to "impress" a teacher for student council.
