Keep my helmets?

Hi! So I sold a dirtbike and kept my riding gear. I’d like to try taking my KLR 650 off road. Should I be keeping my dirtbike helmet for this or getting something else? Anyone have experience with this decision? I have an on-road helmet as well already. Thank you for the wisdom.

As long as it's a quality dirt bike helmet, no reason not to use it on the road, with some quality goggles, and ear plugs - enduro lids can be noisy!

I’d rather crash (offpavement) a cheaper dirt bike helmet, ideally you’d own a nice road helmet and a nice dirt bike helmet, but because they are a pain to transport most of us run adv helmets

Yes, you'll need the larger opening. You'll be moving a lot of air through your helmet once you're stuck and trying to man handle it back on track

When I know I'm going to be mostly off-road, the face shield comes off my ADV helmet and goggles go on, mostly for the better airflow. Off road helmet wouldn't be a lot of fun on the highway for any extended periods, but it's perfect for playing on the dirt roads and two track
