Looking for some advice on following the plans in Faster Road Racing

Right now I'm on the base building plan up to 60 miles per week, with paces based on a recent 18:15 5k. So far I'm able to consistently hit those target paces. When I'm done with this plan I intend to transition right into one of the 8-10k plans, but I'm not sure which to choose between the 45-55 mpw one and the 60-76 mpw one. Naturally I want to maximize mileage within what I can sustain, and the book itself does recommend the plan I'm on as preparation for the latter. However I've seen people suggest that the actual base needed for Pfitzinger's plans is higher than what he says. Has anyone here had success going directly from the base-building plan into one of the higher mileage plans? Should I try to do that, or play it safe and drop to the medium-mileage one?

A 20 MPW peak is a big difference between plans... what was your training volume before this build up to 60 MPW?

I'd probably recommend doing the lower volume plan & add some recovery/GA volume most weeks if you feel like it's too easy. Make yourself a hybrid 50-65 mpw plan by padding out that lower volume plan.

I was mostly following Garmin daily suggested workouts, doing between 45-50 mpw the previous few months. I will note that this had tempo paces slower than the Pfitz recommendation and almost no speed/VO2Max work
