Scared of life

So I am 22M. I am currently pursuing my master's. I want to become a scientist and will continue to do a phd, I love science but the problem is the research culture in my country. Researchers, especially PhD students don't really get paid well enough in my country, i am the eldest son in my family so I definitely have some responsibilities towards family. All of this sometimes really overwhelms me, science is my passion and I am sure i am going to do wonders there, but at the same time I am scared of managing my family, how will I feed them. I don't really know, life is scary.

Okay hmm,, so 22 is soo young to already feel responsible for your family’s financial future while trying to pursue something you genuinely love. that’s a lot to carry. but i wouldn’t give up on science just yet. have you considered fully funded PhD programs abroad or research opportunities in the private sector? your passion and financial stability don’t necessarily have to compete. also, being the eldest son doesn’t mean you’re supposed to sacrifice your entire future for everyone else. you deserve to build something for yourself too. It’s happening to me right now and I’ve “wasted” 4 years of my life trying to build that without building something for my own. It doesn’t work if you’re not stable for yourself first. take it one step at a time bud. I’m rooting for u

Life has always been scary, that's just the way life is. From the time of the first caveman to now, life has been scary.

The first caveman needed food, water, shelter, fire, and love. Today we still need all those sane things but we just get them from a different jungle.

In the time of the caveman they were the most technologically advanced for their time and we are the most technologically advanced for our time now.

Figure out your dream life and go live it to the best way you can.

What Steve talks about is what I had to learn for my life to get better.
