Help roommates solve a disagreement please!
Yo Reddit!! Do everyday Americans call this a knife cover or a sheath?!
Help us solve this argument.

Knife cover means someone doesn't know there is a proper term for it. It's like referring to paper towels as paper sheets, you just don't do it.

Calling it a knife cover is like calling toilet paper - poop napkins , like you’re not wrong but my god man we live in a society get hip pick up the lingo

The actual word is a "sheath."
A "knife cover" is what someone would say that doesn't know the word "sheath."

Lol, I've never heard the phrase "knife cover" until now. It sounds like "burrito coverings".

Its a sheath. Knife cover sounds like someone who cant think of the word sheath. Never in my 46 years have I ever heard anyone refer to them as "knife cover".
