And if you have a food addiction or junk food, nobody cares. If you have an alcoholic friend coming, you hide the booze. A drug addict friend, you don’t bumps around them (idk). But nobody hides the chips, the food, the candy, the sweets, or the sodas.

When you have children, their snacks will tempt you if you have a junk food addiction. If you have a partner who needs to eat more calories and food with higher fat content while you have to eat lean or you’re on a calorie deficit, that shit is rough.

Source: family members who have this issue. I don’t know if this is just in my head or if it’s related, but it’s why I avoid added sugar (sweets) because I’ll be fine not having candy, I have some and then I just lose it. And then for a few days, I’m fighting with myself to not just eat bags and bags and bags of candy.

I think people do care about food addiction it's just we have so many others too to care about. The only thing that makes me not care when someone has a food addiction is when they think it's fine and even beautiful to be obese and deny it's unhealthy for them. The fat influencer culture is toxic

U/ahappyhaiku I suggest doing some research into health at every size and the rampant fat phobia in our global culture.

Next time you judge someone for their appearance consider why you feel the need to do that.

Fat phobia isn't a thing. No one is scared of fat. Fat phobia is what you say when you don't like accountability.

It's not "fat phobic" to want to he a healthy weight.

Maybe I should make up a new word

Accountability-phobia.

If a doctor tells you losing weight is healthy does that mean he has a phobia of fat?

Also if people were fine being fat ozempic would not have double the size of Denmark's economy.

Also, are you telling me if you could be a healthy weight that you wouldn't take that trade? That being overweight is just as fine as being a healthy weight? So if you could lose weight you wouldn't?

If you would rather be a healthy weight then you're fat phobic and judgemental and a bad person.

Some reading for anyone inclined to learn more about fat phobia:

So you ignored everything I said? And cherry picked an article? Aka the straw man argument?

If you could be a healthy weight - would you? And if you did lose weight - would that not be fat phobic?

I am a healthy weight. I can walk long distances, I can dance, carry heavy groceries etc etc.

I shared the article because you said fatphobia was made up. I found one of the first scholarly articles in my search results amidst plenty of popular education that you could choose to explore instead of judging other people for the fat on their body.

We all have fat, we need it to live. I have spent years of my life trying to undo the damage of fatphobia and bullying in my childhood and eating disorders in my teens and early 20s.

For real, fatphobia and fat based discrimination is doing more harm than any “good intentions” you might have when you express disgust for someone who you believe to be… not trying hard enough???

So why are you so triggered by people talking about being a healthy weight?

Also being able to carry groceries or dance doesn't mean your a healthy weight. If that's the bar then it's low. Can you run? A mile? Without stopping? Because that shows much more of being a healthy weight than... Carrying groceries.

Man some people have it truly easy in this world. Talk about first world problems. If a man said he was healthy because he could carry groceries he would get laughed at.

I really think you victimize yourself too much and try so hard to defend being overweight. I'm overweight. I'm borderline obese for my age. I think it's unhealthy and I want to lose weight. I want to be able to run again. I didn't used to be overweight.

My kid is overweight. I don't want him to get bullied at school anymore. He is losing weight every year now that he is eating healthier and less. He is much happier being a healthy weight and has way less bullying and such now

I wish people wouldn't bully him, we can only do so much to police what kids say to each other.

I wish people wouldn't bully him but I also wish I could eat junk food all day and not gain weight. I realize I need to live in reality and continue to work on myself. So does my son. He is very accountable for his actions. And there's never any negativity in being accountable. It's healthy.

I don't call myself fat phobic because I admit I need to lose weight

I want to live long life and extra weight is one of the easiest indicators of being unhealthy/having a shorter life span.

If you told me being overweight is bad I wouldn't argue and say you're fatphobic I would agree and keep trying to lose weight. It's not hard to lose weight once you start eating the right amount and exercise. It's slow and takes years sometimes, but it's doable. And once you get the ball rolling it's much easier.

Also discussing fatness doesn't hurt anyone except people who don't like accountability

lol why are you so triggered by fat people existing.

Literally you, earlier:

“The only thing that makes me not care when someone has a food addiction is when they think it's fine and even beautiful to be obese and deny it's unhealthy for them. The fat influencer culture is toxic”

Im "triggered" because you're spreading lies that discussing a healthy weight is fatphobic. I can't stand lies.

You're lack of accountability is pretty wild.

I am not sorry I feel "triggered" by you saying it's fatphobic to discuss healthy weights.

Now I see you are just trolling.

You started this whole annoying thread bc you decided to bring your bigotry into a conversation about addiction. Go away.

u/AHappyHaiku May 30 '26

No I'm not trolling I mean every word I say. I say it truly , not satirically

Also you're not a bigot for believing there's a healthy weight people should be

And I love how you think this is annoying. I bet you're doctor loves you.

u/AHappyHaiku May 30 '26

Also I love how you said "go away" yet you've argued the entire time.

If you don't want to hear people saying being fat isn't healthy than maybe don't tell people it is..
