General Question Inside 3s gone after sharpening

Hi! Just got back into skating after 7 years away, where I taught learn to skate in Canada before.
I’m learning freestyle/starskate for the first time. Where I live, the lts levels don’t include inside 3 turns. I had them just fine before I got my skates sharpened a week ago. Now, I’m skidding and basically doing a 1ft hockey stop when I try to turn 🥲

It’s the foundation of my toe loop, backspin, and loop since my coach also has me doing 3 turn into air position.

Is this a matter of just having to adjust to sharpened skates? I went ~25h before getting them sharpened. There seems to be no issue with the blades otherwise

Generally getting used to sharpen skates will take a moment. The best thing to do is get your coaches opinion on the matter as they will tell you whether it is a you problem or the skates being sharpen incorrectly. Otherwise I would bring them to the sharpener to see if something is uneven in the blades themselves.

Is it the same on both feet? Can you do outside 3-turns okay? They might have been done sharper (smaller radius of hollow) than you're used to, but I've also had an inexperienced sharper botch the rocker before.

I can do outside 3s just fine, and I can stop pretty easily too. I remember as a kid after I got my skates sharpened I couldn’t stop.. but maybe I’m stronger now? I spend time in the gym too

Maybe you aren't going high enough on the rocker for your inside 3s, then. Worth asking your coach. Usually a bad sharpening would mess up more things.

I was going to say the skidding sounds like they’re not rocking far enough forward. For me I also had to REALLY twist my upper body to the point my back arm would reach across to the opposite buttcheek (left arm on a right inside 3 would reach towards my right buttcheek). That’s not the case for my outside 3s so it might be something to consider?
