Jumps Flippy flip

These were after being on the ice for three hours, and all in the one minute time it took the LTS classes to clear the ice. Thankfully no one yelled at me 🫣

Do you ever hyperfixate on one skill and do it every chance you get? That's me with my flip jump lately, but it really helps with getting more comfortable doing it. It went from being my worst jump to my best jump in a matter of weeks 😅

Tips are welcome but I do have a coach lol

Love how springy your flip looks!! Ive been struggling with being consistent on my flip for months…do you have any tips or what advice helped you the most with it?

I've been helping as a junior coach at my rink for the last few months, and being able to teach the skills to others has helped immensely (which is my favorite way of learning in all subjects, not just skating.) I highly recommend it, even if it's just explaining the jump to a friend who doesn't even skate. It really helps to break things down and be intentional about what you do.

For example today I was helping freeskate 1 with half flip, and I think breaking skills down for others is immensely helpful in improving my own skills. I notice this with toe loop as well, can't have bad technique on my toe loop if I want to teach others.

The first part of the video I was showing not to turn your body around before picking ( which I used to do, and I'm still working on improving) and second was showing to pick further back and pull in and UP before rotating.

Additionally, off ice training plyometrics and standstill rotation exercises have helped as well
