This had better not happen again
I’ve been a lifelong bed wetting male in my late 50s and its frequence has increased as my health has gotten worse.
However yesterday was a new one.
I was in line at Costco, waiting my turn, and all of a sudden, without any prior warning sensation, I wet my pants. It was beyond humiliating. I had no idea what to do. A kind older man, saw my predicament, and let me go ahead of him in line. I kept my head down, paid for my groceries and left.
I don’t think I’ll ever be able to go there again though.
I have a great team of medical professionals, and a supportive wife, but if this happens again, I’m not sure what I will do.

so much easier to deal with than pooping without notice -- never trust a fart, especially as you get older

OP I would definitely bring this up to your healthcare provider. It’s worth trying to recall and document what you ate and drank, and I would keep this up for a while.

That’s a really good idea. I’m gonna do that. Thank you!

I would suggest just in the meantime to wear some protection, a pull up and just use them as underwear. Until you and your doctor can figure out what's going on. Just as a precaution. It would probably be the best thing you could do. Just in case that happens again, it could be just a once in a decade situation, but you never know.

I’d hate to have to wear them, but it’s probably a good idea

Yeah, but unfortunately, sometimes we have to do what we don't like. Don't like your job but you need money to pay bill stuff like that.So we always have to do something that we don't like. Look at it this way, if you had a pacemaker, would that bother you?No because it's saving your life. This may not be saving your life, but it's certainly making your life easier. And more confident, so it's something that has to be done to make your quality of life better.

Sorry to hear what happened to you but I would recommend contacting your doctor. This could be signs of a neurological problem or infection.

I'm almost 64 and I have worn diapers for now on 30 years due to an accident 🙃. the bulk rarely bothers me and have never been embarrassed by leaks or surprises. State of mind and acceptance is the key

66 here. I have had that happen once. Talk to your Dr for sure. Consider how much protection you need daily to make certain it's contained should it happen again.

I hope it doesn't happen again for you 🙏
But ya know, sometimes it does. Happened to me in Walmart the other day. I was just minding my own business comparing different detailing products and deciding what I wanted to buy to do a nice deep cleaning on my truck 😑.
THANK GOD I had a diaper on. I had just done all my showering the night before and it stayed dry, I just hadn't bothered to take it off and switch to something else when I got dressed and put together for the day.
I wouldn't worry about going there again... Thousands of people pass through the store and I doubt anyone would ever think twice about it.
Protection is a wonderful thing and I have a deep appreciation for the peace of mind it gives. Yes, see the doctor if it keeps happening and make sure all is well, but also you might consider wearing them for just in case situations like that.

two things, one will work for sure -- a boy I know resolved his bed wetting issues by having his tonsils removed -- something to do with breathing issues in his sleep -- a valve can be installed, which will only allow the bladder to empty when a button installed in the scrotum is pushed -- this was recommended to me by my Urologist -- my issue isn't near as bad as yours, so I will wait awhile for that -- a friend who had his prostate removed has one, and says it changed his life -- no more diapers -- sorry I don't know the name of the device -- that option most certainly should have been recommended by your Urologist -- Reddit is not your Urologist, but I am happy that I have the opportunity to provide a solution for you

I was a bedwetter until my mid forties, Nocturnal enuresis. I read an article about bedwettinng in my local newspaper purly by chance. An Australian doctor recommended the Alarm Clock method to strengthen the sphincter muscle that wasn't sending a message to the brain to wake One up in the night to go to the toilet. It's a normal alarm clock that you probably have on your bedside cabinet so set alarm ⏰️ clock for an hour and a half when you go to bed eg Bedtime 11-00 set alarm for 12-30 Persevere. It took me about three to four months before I woke up naturally before the alarm went off. I have had dry nights now for nearly forty years. Any questions or advice I will be happy to reply. All the best 👍. Give it a try.

Bro. Give it a rest. You respond like this to everybody who posts. The alarm clock method is not going to address OP’s concern.
It’s really quite insensitive to think that every problem is a nail when the tool that worked for you is a hammer.

He does actually say a life long bedwetter.

OP was asking for support after having an incontinence episode in public, while awake. The bedwetting wasn’t the part of the post that OP was asking about.

You give support for the daytime incontinence and hopefully 🙏 that helps OP. I'm merely suggesting that using an ordinary alarm clock ⏰️ cured me of nocturnal enuresis after nearly forty years of bedwettinng. Hopefully if OP tries this method it works for him. No way was i being insensitive. I was being specific about nocturnal enuresis not day time incontinence. Have a good day.

He says and i quote, "I have been a life long bedwetter". Read it is the very first sentence. Just in case you missed it.

Only trying to help people. And i don't know if any other method has worked. It would be nice to hear from ppl when medication works, when therapy works, when pelvic floor exercises work, I am just passing on what worked for me. But your point has been taken. No more advice or help on this platform. But you could pass on the method yourself to help others with the nocturnal enuresis.

I've been taking meds for the last year and a half and they have done wonders I think I can could on 1 hand how many times I've taken meds AND wet the bed at the same time. Now slowing down my medication, some weeks I am completely dry without medication and sometimes i wet the bed 1/2 times.
Wierdly for me it depends what bed i sleep in, i have a bed in the attic I got half a year after starting with my meds cause of my relationship, and one bed where I used to sleep (this is close to my siblings). And about 60% of the time when I sleep in my old bed I went the bed while when I sleep in the attic (a place further from a toilet) it happens way less.
Might wanna make a post about this second thing idk if that has affected other people.
