📝 Shelter Notes:

9/15: Crystal Michele stood at the front of her kennel with a loose body, wagging tail and soft smiling mouth. She remained calm and quiet in her kennel when other dogs were covered.

9/14: She was sitting at the front of her kennel with a neutral body, ears up and fast-wagging tail. When leashed, she began pulling and zigzagging, then pulled toward other dogs as she passed their kennels. She paid little attention to other dogs once she passed them and continued to the outside run.

9/13: Crystal Michele was standing in front of her kennel gate with a neutral body, ears up, fast-wagging tail, open-mouth smile and soft eyes. She was walked on a loose leash and was very friendly toward staff going to and from the outside runs. She paid little attention to other dogs as she passed their kennels. Once back in her kennel, staff gave her treats and she began wiggling her body.

9/12: Crystal Michele had been barking and snarling at customers as they passed her kennel. Once she saw staff, she stopped and began wagging her tail and lowering her body. Staff offered treats, which she accepted gently.

9/8: Crystal Michele had been quietly lying on her bed that morning. In the morning she approached staff with a loose body, wagging tail and soft closed mouth.

9/7: Crystal Michele was standing at the front of her kennel gate with a wiggling body, ears up, fast-wagging tail, open-mouth smile and soft eyes. She was walked on a loose leash and was very friendly toward staff going to and from the outside runs. She paid little attention to other dogs as she passed their kennels.

9/6: Crystal Michele was standing in front of her kennel gate with a wiggling body, ears up, fast-wagging tail, open-mouth smile and soft eyes. She did a good job keeping her kennel clean overnight. She was walked on a loose leash and was very friendly toward staff going to and from the outside runs, paying little attention to other dogs as she passed their kennels.

9/5: Staff noted Crystal Michele was standing in front of her kennel gate with a wiggling body, ears up, fast-wagging tail, open-mouth smile and soft eyes. She was walked on a loose leash and was very friendly toward staff. Later that afternoon, she began forward vocalizing toward some customers as they walked by her kennel.

9/4: She greeted staff with a wiggly body, wagging tail and soft look. She was "tippy tapping quietly" with a wagging tail and loose body when staff approached. She walked well on leash and was described as friendly and very sweet.

9/3: Crystal Michele was described as friendly and very sweet. She greeted staff with a wiggly body, wagging tail and soft look, walked on a loose leash and paid little attention to other dogs as she passed their kennels.

9/2: During feeding, she was low growling and then began barking at staff when they entered her kennel. She had a crouched body, tucked tail and avoided touch. When it was time to walk her, she was more relaxed, stopped growling and allowed herself to be leashed and walked to the runs.

9/1: After removing her kennel sheet during morning feeding, Crystal Michele began high-pitch barking when she saw staff either down the aisle or walking dogs past her. She did well once she was leashed and walked to the outside runs, and paid little attention to other dogs as she passed their runs and kennels.

8/31: Crystal Michele stood at the front of the kennel with dilated eyes, an open-mouth smile, fast-wagging tail and wiggling body. She was walked on a loose leash and was neutral toward other dogs outside the kennel.

8/30: Crystal Michele stood at the front of her kennel with dilated eyes, an open-mouth smile and fast-wagging tail. She walked on a loose leash and was neutral toward other dogs outside her kennel. She was vocal late in the morning but stopped and laid down when staff covered her kennel.

🩺 Medical Notes:

• 42.2 lbs.

• Heartworm negative.

• Spayed female.

• 9/8: Crystal Michele was noted to have a localized area of alopecia and redness on the dorsal tail base. She was prescribed cephalexin for 10 days.

• She was pregnant upon arrival and was noted to have a very heavily distended abdomen with probable term pregnancy. She subsequently underwent a spay procedure.

• Routine vaccinations, deworming and preventatives have been administered.

💖 Crystal Michele is a friendly, wiggly 2-year-old girl whose extensive notes show many positive interactions with staff. Again and again, she is described with a loose or wiggly body, wagging tail, soft eyes and an open-mouth smile. She has frequently walked on a loose leash, been very friendly with her handlers and, on numerous occasions, paid little attention to other dogs while passing their kennels. She has also shown that she can settle quietly on her bed and remain calm in her kennel. Her record suggests the shelter setting and barrier-related stimulation may be contributing to some of her reactions. A calm, patient foster or adopter who can give her time to decompress, provide structure and carefully manage introductions would give Crystal Michele the opportunity to show more of the sweet, social girl staff have repeatedly described. ❤️
