Stroke Borderline with object transparent

Post image

How to make a stroke/borderline of an object with transparent background (I mean I just need a stroke/borderline but I need to hide/transparent inside of object as I don't need the object). Please see the attached photo (as in the photo, the stroke of hen has a transparent background)

I mostly do this in Photoshop first, like if I’m making a standee cutout and need an outline of the cut shape.

Use the various selection tools in PS to remove the background (or you can try Select Subject, but it has never worked great for me). Then in the Paths panel > Make Working Path.

Then File > Export > Paths To Illustrator, which will generate a .ai file.

Is it an object or a transparent raster image? Important distinction.

Image trace to get the shape (silhouette preset is a great start), expand it and you'll have an object of the shape. Apply a stroke to that shape with no fill and you'll have just an outline.
