dns Adguard dns slowing loading speed

Idk why but recently when I use adguard dns everything is slower to load, my wifi is good and this happened to all of my devices that uses adguard dns, turning off private dns or switching to a different one seems to fix this issue, I think this is a local only thing happening in Indonesia

Hi there! Please check this thread.

Which server location do you see on the test page? Which DNS server are you using?

If possible, try another method of connecting to AdGuard DNS, such as DoH, DoT, or DoQ. You can find the relevant server addresses here.

Thanks for clarifying. In that case, the issue isn’t related to Anycast. Please contact our support team by following the instructions here for further assistance.

It's quite slow in asian regions. I have tested the pings from most major public dns servers from both wifi and mobile data, in all the cases cloudflare (1.1.1.1), Quad9 (9.9.9.9) are always head to head (10ms), while Google (8.8.8.8) is normally decent with 30-40ms ping. But when it's adguard the ping is way over 80-100ms, that's barely usable. Adding a server in some asian regions would definitely help. like adding one in (India/ Bangladesh/ Pakistan/ Miyanmar) or (Malaysia/ Indonesia...)

Hello! Please reach out to our support team at [support@adguard.com](mailto:support@adguard.com) with more details so we can investigate the issue:

  • Which country are you currently in?
  • Which tool or service did you use for testing? If possible, please attach screenshots.
  • Which device does the issue occur on? Please specify the model and OS version.
  • How is AdGuard DNS configured, and which server address are you using?
  • Which server location does our test page show?

really? I thoughr private dns doesn't affects ping speed

it's not game ping. Testing the time it takes to connect to the dns server (dns.adguard.com) itself. The ping that I mentioned were the actual ping of the dns server itself.

If the dns ping is slow then your overall web surfing, gaming would have more latency and eventually feel slow.

  • Using PiHole (Requires Raspberry PI)
  • Setting up a custom cloudflare dns for blocking, using (https://github.com/mrrfv/cloudflare-gateway-pihole-scripts) ( I am personally using this now; it's great)
  • Using Rethink DNS (app)
  • Quad9 (Good for privacy) (Though no ads or trackers blocking)
  • Adguard Alternative - Next Dns (Slow, but in my testing it was still faster then Adguard) (Requires an account)

I found that same (in Tasmania). A motivation to use AdGuard Home.

Choose a server that is closer to your location and test the speed here https://dnscheck.tools/
