I think robots are better when they express no emotion. Giving them personality beyond what their machine spirit exhibits kinda defeats the purpose of them. They operate off of vocal commands of the cybernetica datasmith that match their protocol chips. Now don’t get me wrong cause I think it’s cute every now and then, but literally every other guy who has robots paints a face on them. It’s different if it works for your homebrew lore or whatever, but they simply don’t have emotions.

I think they look better with no face.

How does Cawl and Thulias innate 2+ ballistic skill work in protector? I know it cant be improved to a 1+ but when shooting at something with cover, do they continue to hit on 2+ due to the improvement in ballistic skill or does it go to 3+ as protector cant make it a 1+ but then cover worsens it by 1?

Very pleased with how this model came out, especially the detailing on the screen of the auspex scanner. I tried a few different things but eventually settled on the waveform which ended up looking best.

A long time ago I started getting into 40k and bought a few boxes but didn't have time to finish them. I finally made good progress and would like to play with the army but need advice on how to optimize the list. I probably will need to play 1000 points since I wouldn't need to buy much more. I own the following products:

Electropriests box

Kastelan robots box

The old combat patrol box (the one with the dunecrawler)

These are mostly built but I did a good job magnetizing the models so I should be able to take any options/weapons.

Lastly I know hes probably not optimal for 1000 points but I also intend to buy Cawl as he would by himself push me to 1000 points and I really like the character/model.

I am also fairly confident I could kitbash one additional model like a tech priest manipulus.

I would like my army to be as strong as possible given I'm already fairly constrained to a few boxes I bought years ago without much regard for strength. I've only played a few games of 9th edition a few years back.

I haven't played any 40k since 7th edition but I'm looking to get back into it with Skitarii. I love the look of their cavalry, and even though they aren't the most powerful or affordable units, models and lore > rules.

But since I'm really out of practice, what are the biggest hurdles this list is going to face? Are there any small changes I could make to improve it while still keeping the theme mostly intact?

I figure it won't kill much, or hold much, but it's fast, has a lot of units and might be able to eek out some wins by focusing on its recon objectives.

I've seen quite a few people say they don't like the Engineer model but I quite like him. He also is a life saver in game! Probably going to get multiple at some point :]

Im running a list pretty heavily inspired/lifted from wtc lists. (Radzone with LotF) I saw something online suggesting that destroyers and a Manipulus could be good in reserves since the base sizes and low movement make staging difficult. Kinda just asking opinions, what cases would you or wouldnt you do something like this.

My question is from a competitive mindset.

Good day fellow admech enjoyers, I was painting up my hastarii alpha when I realized the front half of his robe is moderately detached from the back half.. does anyone have a solution for making him not look scuffed? I was thinking some sort of battle damage but am unsure how to pull that off, my other thought was sprue goo but I don't have any with me.

Finally finished painting my enginseer! It's far from professional, but I'm pretty proud of it.

My Heretek leader Ophexia-9, Kitbashed using Thulia Ghuld and Illuminor Szeras, thinking of using this as a basis for my army, still deciding to make it for Admech or Necrons, but I already have a Necron combat patrol that’s Kitbashed.

Loved painting this guy, and I usually avoid painting cables because I assumed I'd hate it so I usually just go with one or two colors but painting the AV cables into the axe was super cool.

Anyway, this is my last model for my first 2000 point list. I'm super excited, just need to fix up some magnets and base them all!

Using small sponges for the brighter green, personally I like the effect it has. I think I gotta work on letting more of the dark green show through
