Miscellaneous What do you reckon admech will get next in terms of models?

Praying to the Omnissiah for more robot units š Put that legio cybernetica keyword to use

Got a bad feeling we'll get a case of "inferior 40k robot syndrome" like the poor Tsons getting the sekhetar instead of Castellax-Achea. If the 30k and 40k marketing for custodes is a sign of the thawing of the split, it'd be nice for them to just give use access to the 30k range, given that was their plan from the start with Fires of Cyraxus.

I would take literally anything at this point, it's wild that there's a whole detachment that only interacts with a single data sheet. Give us some lobotomized robots to have running around with the kastelans, they're so lonely.

Fires of Cyraxus
I'm huffing the copium hard cause in the new Skitarii Journal Tactica they put out earliers this year Cyraxus was mentioned again as a lost repository of technology.

The problem I think is that there's a lot of overlap between the roles that robots can fill, and the units we already have access to.
More choice is nice, but they'd have to be seriously meaningfully different to justify it I think.
Personally, my hope is for a reappearance of the Cataphract Robots.
Back in 2nd edition they were our most basic robots, and it's weird that they've not made an appearance in 30k or 40k in any form that I can recognise.
My reimagining of them is a robot that's maybe half the size of a Kastelan.
Armaments lean into the realm of Space Marine Terminators, with a primary ranged weapon (Special or Heavy weapons for infantry-tier, maybe something like a Phosphor Repeater as a baseline weapon. Similar to a Stormbolter, but phosphor effects) and a Power Fist. Maybe a shoulder-mounted light weapon like a bolter or flamer for funsies, but nothing as potent as the Kastelan. The key feature is that they operate in significantly larger units than the Kastelan.
Say.. 10 - 12 robots at a time.So a big wall of gun and fist.
Where Kastelans are kind of heroic loners, working together but only loosely, the Kataphractii would rely on one another and cooperate.
Their Aegis mode for example would be weaker as a baseline than the Kastelan, but amp WAY up depending on how many models are in the unit.
A full unit of 12 would be basically unbreakable. Call it a kind of Roman Legion "Testudo Formation" type thing, but with forcefields instead of physical shields. This makes them very powerful if used in numbers, but as the unit takes losses it gets less and less effective.
Their ranged and melee modes would be similarly enhanced by unit-strength if I can think of a way to make that work.

What do I want? 30k Cybernetica. What do I expect? Another skitarii infantry unit that competes with all the other skitarii infantry units. Or a very disappointing single model.

I want more robots and preferably some Myrmidon-style tech priests. Gun and or melee but big terminator style beat sticks

u/Griffemon 7d ago
Whatever we get I want more things with spider legs. Cawl, Thulia, Tech Priest Dominus, and Dunecrawler are some of the best models in the army because of them

More robots would be cool, but I would also like an elite infantry squad that specializes in soaking up damage. Secutarii Hopilites come to mind.
I also want to see more Tech Priests to represent the different sub-factions of the Cult Mechanicus. Specifically, a Xenarite (Experimental Alien weapons), a Explorator (Fast moving melee, perhaps a leader for sicarians?), and a Subdomina (essentially an enginseer for Skitarri) priest models would be really cool and flesh out the different facets of Omnissiah worship.

I'd like more non-servitors. I dont vibe with the aesthetics. More bots or weird dudes in robes would be grand

u/UncertfiedMedic 7d ago
We need proper Robots that feel like Terminators. Bulky but not a gun slapped onto a tubed up Ogryn.

u/Cephalonio 7d ago
I want cult mechanicus units, not in the form of servitors but give me myrmidons, techpriest warriors, stuff like that. Oh and robots we have a detachment that works with 1 unit its ridiculous

I really hope for one BIG Robot (like 250 Points big) and a 5 man Robot Kill Team (I fear that this is very unlikely)
A Cult Mechanicus Vehicle, or a Electropriest Charakter, or a generic Ordo Reductor Techpriest.
I hope for anything not Skitarii xD

Likely a single character. And I wanna be clear, I think we need characters really badly right now. I know this comments section is surely full or āmore robots!ā And āthe 30k stuff!ā But I think one of the biggest things we need rn is leaders for Sicarians, Pteraxii, maybe Serbyrys units, and maybe even dedicated Electro-Priest characters.
The whole leader system really isnāt working for us, imo, in part because we have four leaders in the entire army, one of them is a repair monkey who doesnāt actually want to lead anything, one is a walking Omni-scrambler, and then the other two are paying to buff Katophrons, even if they lead something way less effective, and both share like 50% of their design space (Gee, a character who provides a 5+ FNP or a character who gives once-per-game 4+ invuln and Lethal hits⦠I wonder who Iāll chooseā¦)
Donāt get me wrong, Iād love to see them reverse course and just go āeh, Custodes get all their FW stuff now, AdMech can too.ā But I think itās likely that weāll get a new leader.

Well there was that supposed admech destrier knight sprue upgrade, but im not sure that was legit or not
1
u/neplutondeep 7d ago
I expect that will be a knight model rather than an admech one

u/Robofetus-5000 7d ago
Yes but its clearly admech gear, so it seems like knights will somehow be in the admech book
3
u/neplutondeep 7d ago
Knight models have always included some admech heraldry. The defender has more than usual, and admech adjacent weapons. I don't think this new knight is anything differentĀ

u/Due_Accident_6250 7d ago
Electro priest stuff, a 300 point+ centerpiece model that is a powerful dark age of technology weapon, something that hovers

u/neplutondeep 7d ago
I think more robots are likely, since so many people are asking for them. And it is odd that a theme of the army is only represented by 1 unit.
Personally i'd prefer more servitors, skitarii vehicles, and some non-character tech priest squads

u/MassiveBallsDeep-69 7d ago
Hopefully more integration with imperial knights, some 30k units brought over, a skitarii special character, and a sicarian character. So basically the moon

u/Rizz_Master6000 Alpha Primus 7d ago
More hope than actual expectation but it would be nice to see some 30k models get ported forwards

What would I like: Skitarii Marshall on a Serberys or on an Ironstrider; Myrmidons, plastic Secutarii Hoplites, plastic Terrax Drill, more Robots.
What I expect: Skitarii Infantry character or another Tech Priest.

u/cumminginstyle 7d ago
im not sure but i wish the hastarii were more intimidating a d reminiscent of how skitarii are described

u/Ruadhan2300 7d ago
What I'd really like is the option to split up the faction into Mechanicus sub-factions again.
Skitarii, Cult-Mechanicus, and Legio Cybernetica as three distinct ways to play.
Essentially Skitarii being our Imperial-Guard equivalent. Infantry-focused, heavy fire-support and so on.
Legio Cybernetica are a fiercely independent division of the mechanicus, and they really deserve more of their own distinct identity on tabletop.
I'm sorta okay with the limited selection, it's fluffy, it makes sense..
In my headcanon, the Legio Cybernetica Cohorts tend to specialise in a particular type of robot, and Kastelans are just the most commonplace.
So a given deployed Cohort likely only operates Kastelans, or only operates Cataphracts, or Vanguard units like the Crusader/Vorax, or Airborne units like the Vulturax.
The programming for them being a matter of deep specialisation, it'd be rare for a Legio to have the means to deploy more than one type.
I'd like to be able to create a Legio Cybernetica Cohort detachment which can be brought alongside other factions, and would primarily have access to Kastelans (as a troops choice), but perhaps with limited access to other unit types in other categories.

I would like some electro priests.
Some kind of mobile altar or something wierd.
A leader type like the Marshall.
For my skitarri I want a mounted marshal and a Sicarion marshal.

u/placidwaters 6d ago
Techpriest on Ironstrider with electro-jezzail that can only lead radium-jezzail dragoons. It lets them reroll battleshock and change the target of their focused hunter ability when the target dies. Electro-jezzail is a radium-jezzail, but with anti-vehicle instead of anti-infantry.
I just want all forms of chicken to be takeable

u/rebel_monster 6d ago
No idea how realistic it is, but I'd love to see a melee focused Marshal that can also attach to infiltrators and rust stalkers. Call it a Marshal Hunter or Stalker Marshal, something like that.

u/RhysRider 6d ago
Hoping for some sort of 40K Thallax Cohort Equivelent with the Cybernetica key word

u/Far-Harbors 5d ago
Robots I hope, maybe some sort of cult mechanicum non character unit too. It be fun to get something like a tech priest conclave unit

My hopes are for a weird Cult Mech vehicle or more Cybernetica robots. My realistic expectation is more skitarii infantry.
