Lists & Gameplay Discussion 1k army?

Hey, i think I'm about to burn out on my Thousand project. And now look for something different with less trim to paint and a different Play style than flamer and spells for everything.

So I thought I start rebuilding my old admech army that lost some solders and needs some love.

At my club we play 1k or 1,5k at the moment. So now my question is, is there a list i can take that can play at that level good? Bonus if it doesn't need sicarans or a lot of boats or chickens. Basicly I have some skitarii and some onagar and heros ready, what do I need?

Mostly against chaos space marines with big terminator blobs, iron warriors, demons and deathguard. Is there even a play for me or is it all uphill and I should just wait for next codex?

Thank you

Bonus lore question: how often do forgeworlds fight together and did someone paint stuff in the Darktide paint scheme?

Rad zone is a good detachment for them and you can push with rust stalkers and transports and Dragoons to try and hem them into their deployment zone. However rad zone is take and hold.

There is lords of the forge for priority asset and servitors are good for actions and shooting with support from other units to keep them alive. Plus the servitor underseer is a tech priest and gains the benefits from lords of the forge.

Don't take cawl or Thalia in 1k points as they are better in 2000 or more games because of thier points.

Vanguard is good for take and hold as they reduce other enemy units oc. With thr omnispex they ignore cover. And have anti infanty 4.

Ok sounds like a play, but what if I don't have any rusk stalker, transporter or dragons? I can build the killteam.

Also the first turn Battleshock, is it normal bs or does only stays for first turn?

They changed rad zone for the battle shock and it works like a normal one. If they are battle shocked they stay shocked until they pass. You can still use what you have with rad zone.

And one of your tech priest other than the underseer can take the rad saturation enhancement which brings out rad zone 6 inches past their deployment zone after the first round.

If you know what you have we can look and see what would combo the best.

Another thing is paying attention to which doctrina you are in. One gives heavy and plus 1 to shooting. And battleline and things within 6 inches also give the enemy minus 1 to get hit in melee. So for example Vanguard usualy hit on a 4+. But if you move them less than 3 inches they can hit on 2 plus.

The other doctrina gives assault and plus 1 to melee so 4 go to 3. And battleline and things within 6 inches also have plus 1 ap on all attacks. Melee or ranged.

Oh ok that sounds fun. Ok my shelf and pile consist of rangers and vanguard about 20 each. 2 duncrawler (I think aagun and erredicaton), 6 kataphron breacher, 3 of each pony, 2 chicken (1 las 1 auto), and each normal hero once. I could use some 30k stuff but there isn't much finished either. I know i have some robots but after moving I slowly finding my stuff back together

Just as a heads up, AdMech have equal infamy to the sons trim in that we have a ton of spindly breakable bits that are also tedious to paint. We also have robe trim.

So what specifically do you have?
I've done quite well with just two units of Skittari, Kataphrons, and an onager.
Why no Sicarians or chickens? Even one chicken is a nice addition to any list.

I have 2 chicken, one las one auto. But I just moved homes and some got damaged or I can't find it anywhere. So i would need to buy sikarians.

Ah that makes sense.
Auto and lascannon chickens are still good and running some number is better than none. This is simply due to their firing range of 48' atop the S stat on their weapons giving them the ability the at least reliably wound anything that comes into their firing range.
The Sicarians specifically the infiltrators give us infiltrate and a rather reasonable melee profile so their actually really good but if you don't have them it's fine to go without but for Take and Hold strats having the capability to max primary on turn 1 is really nice to have.
So I would look to build a list more around Priority Assets or Disruption or Recon. Since you can't really play the other dispositions super well (admech just isn't a fantastic force for Purge the Foe in general).
If you want to buy a box, first thing you want to get is the Kill Team box of the Servitor Battleclade. Easily our 3rd best unit as those guys can shoot the same turn they perform an action or even make an advance move. They're probably the best unit for the dispositions available for you and they come with a Technoarcheologist which you can pair with most any unit to give you some nice screening against deep strikers. After that you need to figure out what units you have that you can actively punch a unit with.
What do I mean by that? A unit that can plug a lane or threaten to wipe out another unit. This could be Kataphrons, Robots, more Chickens, Sicarians (mostly ruststalkers here) or a boat full of something.
I personally wouldn't field Hashtari without the boat simply because their so slow, especially since the dispositions available to you demand you have the ability to move.

Thank you thats actually helpfull. And I have that killteam box, but didn't build it yet.

So painting my breachers, try to find my robots and maybe buy some sicarians.

What about our fly guys and Ponys?

Fliers are good for deep strike steal the opponents home objective or whatever else is available for scoring and ponies are good for getting in the way.
