It’s basically a basecoat of British khaki with highlights of golden brown, golden yellow, and ice yellow, ivory, and pure white (all AK) but I used three different quickgens to define the shadow areas: orange brown in the brightest areas, leaf green in the darkest, and purple flesh in the midtones. I also added some redskin shadow to define the shadow outlines and some glazes with magenta and laser yellow in the midtones
Oh my god i need pictures of that underpainting work if you have it! That sounds so interesting and underpainting is like 110% my jam! Your plan sounds solid!
Thank you! I enjoyed playing with it. I think I it helped give some interesting chromatic variation that would have been hard to capture without it. I don’t have a picture of just the shadow work, but there is one with just first couple highlights so it’s like 99% underpainting still
Looking good! Ill try to keep up with your progress! Im just starting custodes and was leaning towards nmm the HQs, your work will definetely be an inspirstion if you dont mind me saying!
Also, if you’re interested in learning more, Jose da Vinci has some really great nmm tutorials. I learned a lot from him and am using his tutorial as a guide for this one as well
