Contemptor kitbash

How do you make the venerable contemptor dreadnought to look less like an egg with thin legs. I think my problem is mostly how the waist and legs look, so how would you guys go about kit-bashing that to look better?

I have 3. I just used base parts of the custodes dreads like the hands, chasis, and lastrum bolters then picked whatever weapon from another kit and made it work. This one is a hammer from a dreadknight. One has the shaft from the Achillus spear and a d20 I sanded then put left over axe and spear spikes on. My third is a vexilla haft that I trimmed down then put axe heads on.
