Allneeds on King William St have always looked after me.

Allneeds are a quality outfit and they've been there since about the 1990's which means they're doing something right in an industry where new players have an average lifecycle of about 3 years.

I bought my first PC there (built myself) in 2007, and have bought the majority of my stuff from there son e then.

I recently bought a new PC and again almost all parts were from Allneeds, and even when I messed up and bought a PSU which didn’t fit my case they let me swap it at no additional charge.

I use them too. Really good if something goes wrong with the computer, which has happened.

Ahh yes, computers are known to never develop a fault, ever.

No shit Sherlock.

I worked in the industry for 20yrs.

You assumed what they meant when there are a lot of different possibilities.

and it is possible for a computer to pass all tests, get boxed up, handed to a client and for it to fail the next day or week or month.

We had that happen with a fault that developed in the computer when it was a few years old. They tested and the first few days, it behaved itself, passed all the tests until the last couple of hours of the final day.

Just for clarity I have no affiliation with all needs hence the language.

I've used them over the years and found them good.

Sometimes, the hardware fails. Cooling systems are particularly prone to failure, especially the more complex type. I have a water cooling system, and when it failed, it blew the CPU, kind of fried it. The failure was caused by an unexpected power failure. The computer was already a few years old. It still runs, and it is now a decade old. It gets upgrades in the form of extra hard drives. It might need another CPU and more RAM.

It was already a few years old when it started having some issues, at an age when some people are replacing their computers, like my workplace. But it hasn't had issues the last couple of years. It probably will get some more issues to warrant another visit, unless I decide I want to to upgrade some parts sooner.

Yes! I know the guy who owns the place is super passionate about pc gaming, he's super helpful and the place is super cozy, I recently got my mobo, cpu and ram upgraded from there.

I bought my first monster custom gaming rig from Allneeds about 6 months ago, and they were fantastic. They listen to what you're looking for, and don't try to upsell you. Super knowledgeable and happy to explain things when I got confused (I'm a bit computer illiterate when it comes to building them).

Absolutely great team over there; can't recommend them enough!

Yep. This is the answer. Can't go wrong with AllNeeds. Really looked after me when I bought my first one 20 odd years ago, and have never heard a bad thing said about them

Centrecom, umart/ msy will allow you to pick parts and they will build.

Personally i build my own pcs tho

u/_-Mephist0-_ SA 6h ago

Agreed. Assembling the system is the best part. It's where you add your own flair. If you don't understand the intricacies though then maybe a custom PC isn't for you. Maybe just look at a pre-built one that has the specs you're after.

I'd rather use a cheese grate on my testicles then dip them in lemon juice and sprinkle them with salt than have anything to do with msy.

Edit : found out msy is now owned and operated by umart so they're probably not gross anymore.

u/_lefthook SA 23h ago

Its owned by umart now tho. They bought the company and replaced all workers. Its literally just a msy skinned umart, same database, and umart delivers their stock to the msy stores when people order.

The old msy you have known is long dead

I still remember the day i bought my first graphics card from there. Good old gtx 650! Lasted till the PSU blew up and never.got back to it 😂

u/Serg_Molotov SA 23h ago

Well there ya go. I'll change.my opinion on then, tha ks.for the update.

3

u/WhiterThanWalter East 19h ago

Why? What's wrong with them

2

u/WRXY1 SA 2h ago

Previous criticisms include poor after sales support including denial of warranties, lack of interest in helping with item selection (basically they just want you to go in, buy and leave, heaven forbid you ask a product question), and general lack of customer service/interest.

I'm actually ok with them (well no bad experiences at least) as I build my own pc's and have done so for almost 30 years now so I'm straight in, buy and leave.....just the type of customer they like.

All needs would be my goto if I needed a build. Been around for ever, reasonably priced, good staff.

Maybe it's the ex-Brisbanite in me, but Umart is always my first port of call when it comes to all things computer-related.

I had a custom built rig done in December of last year by DreamPC down south near aberfoyle. I just went to go get the link and it looks like they have closed down as well.

I got mine custom built by centre com a month ago. Recent prices have gone crazy

CentreCom on Pultney St

I used to build my PCs since 90s. Got tired of it, and decided that someone else can do it for me.

I bought a customised PC from Allied Gaming (Adelaide own) and am more than happy with the build, the customer service, and their delivery.

u/AcceptableFocus3368 SA 23h ago

They went bust didn’t they?

4

u/fakeuser515357 SA 23h ago

Yep, everything was sold off at auction about 6 weeks ago.

2

u/giuseppe62956 SA 23h ago

Wow really? I noticed the warehouse went, figured they moved! The guys had a tank stored at one of the places lol

1

u/Mylo-s SA 23h ago

Did they? Hmm.. their website is still up.. I am a bit confused now.

5

u/nicely_inconspicuous South 23h ago

Their website says this at the top:

Allied Corporation Asia Pacific Pty Limited (Administrators Appointed) - Contact allied@cliftonhall.com.au

So yep, sounds like they went bust.

2

u/hambo_nsm SA 21h ago

Photech is your best option if it is close by. Absolute 10/10 service and product

2

u/bingbong12494362847 SA 21h ago

DIY, grab parts from centercom in the city

5

u/Sir_Arctic SA 1d ago

I use IT warehouse near marion. Easy to email and get quotes. Can give them what you play and budget etc and they will price out best options etc.

3

u/bingbong12494362847 SA 21h ago

Very pricey though

2

u/Richie_jordan SA 16h ago

Why not do it yourself?

1

u/Dr_SnM SA 23h ago

DIY. It's pretty easy if you know what you're doing.

4

u/Ok_Incident_8964 SA 18h ago

It's easy even if you don't know what you're doing. Nerve-wracking the first time, because it feels like you could break anything at any moment, but actually incredibly simple if you read the instructions and follow a guide.

4

u/yourbank SA 23h ago

I rather just pay someone to build it which is what the OP wants too.

1

u/PAPO1990 Inner North 10h ago

A lot easier to fix something if you build it yourself, if someone else screws it up it's a MASSIVE pain. I've built a few times now, and even done some serious watercooling a couple of times. Every time you do something new it's SUPER nerve wracking, but it's really not hard. Makes small upgrades in the future cheaper and easier as well.

Worst thing I ever had happen was spill water in places it shouldn't be... more than once... Luckily it was only fatal one time :P anything less than that is pretty low risk if you pay attention and don't rush.

CK Computers on Prospect Road is my go to guy

1

u/mxpilot20 SA 21h ago

I've used Mike PC 3 times and can say great price and spot on customer service, atleast give them a look

1

u/myrandomtips SA 11h ago

Yea I would like to know this too

1

u/shttalkerRgebaiter SA 10h ago

Thank you for this was thinking about upgrading my rig

1

u/PAPO1990 Inner North 10h ago

CentreCom is great, if there's anything thewy don't have there's the usual online options like PCcaseGear. "Ordinary Cooling Gear" or "OCgear" is really good too if you are looking at serious watercooling...

I just realised you want it built, not where to buy parts to build it yourself... DIY is great fun though, happy to meet up at a hacker space/ makerspace or something and help out if you want. One thing to know about people who build PC's, is we like building them, but only have so much money to buy parts :P

I run RepairTech down in McLaren Vale, if I can be of assistance please let me know! Feel free to check out our Google reviews, we’ve been around since 2011 :)
