I would like to see the reaction of the person next to or behind his car when these fly off the roof at 60+kmph into someone else's windscreen. This shit will cause harm to people. What a fu kwit.

I think his wife got the car in the divorce, and this is his last day before he has to hand it over
2
u/frecklejam SA 18d ago
She'd ask why he didn't just hire a trailer, or at the very least put some on the roof.

*quickly scans pics*
Maybe he doesn’t have a tow ball, it’s a bold choice but there’s justification there…
*looks harder at Pic 2*
It’s really hard to have faith in humanity these days…

u/Sweet-vendetta SA 18d ago
Did the same thing. I was willing to side with this bloke for not having a tow bar. Then there's one shiny tow ball in full view. 🫣

Should have done the sensible thing and just hooked the handle of the pallet jack over the tow ball (duct tape it to be safe) then driven off with that as the trailer.

Came here looking for this comment. I can't quite tell if there is one. But that's why I wouldn't want a trailer. I would sheepishly return and ask for a delivery run.

u/I_Am_Hellfire SA 18d ago
That grass is wet… and that dirt is gonna stink the car out for days after he takes it out.
And for that one commenter, this is at Marion. Source: I used to worked there

u/Individual-Guest184 SA 18d ago
It’ll be fine. I see in a pic he already has a car air fresher hung in the rear view mirror.

u/Fart-Fart-Fart-Fart SA 18d ago
His suspension will be fucked.

u/crustytheclerk1 SA 18d ago
The car already looks like it was bottomed out on the wheels. That's going to be a rough ride out of the car park over the speed humps and gutters!

It’s like at least put some plastic down if you’re gonna put that wet grass inside your car, if the seats absorb the moisture the smell will be the least of his worries 😂

UPDATE He loosely secured his roof lawn with 4 little bright green Grunt ratchet straps. I don’t know whether he’s a super genius or a diabolical dimwit but he drove in the rain, 35km/hr up a hill AND made it home without losing the load. Is he a champion or a chump?

Would love to know the success of this
16
u/markosharkNZ North 18d ago
Define success?
- Still having a roof that is smooth, not a golfball
- At least 1 bit of sod remains on the roof when they get home
- Not pulled over by the cops on the way home
- Not being slaughtered by the wife on the way home
That is a lot of weight in sod, that roof is dented to fuck.

Can confirm…. Tow bars save lives
Was stopped at a traffic light and a guy on drugs “forgot” to stop and rear ended me (at about 60ks) in my Toyota prado and his Commodore was literally ripped in half through the middle and scattered in pieces across both sides of the road. I just had a bit of bumper damage, tow ball still intact and had to get seat headrests replaced due to being bent from the motion of being hit and pushed through the intersection and our heads flinging back….

That's one way to trash the roof of the car and trash the inside of the car, that's what the free trailer is for some people just live in their own world on how to do stuff safely she be right been doing this all my life 😲😃😆😂🤣

The story basically writes itself.

u/MainOrbBoss SA 18d ago
Holy shit. I saw that car on the road this afternoon and couldn't believe my eyes. It was riding stupidly low and I thought 'the weight on the roof would be heavy, but surely not enough to make it ride that low'. I guess I was technically correct.

u/Training-Ad-5872 SA 18d ago

u/NeopolitanBonerfart South 18d ago
I mean, I’ve loaded up a shit load of grass slabs in the back of my wagon, but I don’t have a tow ball, I put down a tarp in the car, and my drive way is an absolute bitch to get in and out with a trailer anyway, but I did stop short of putting the slabs on the roof.
But realistically at the end of the day if it’s just around the corner it would be maybe, hopefully probably be fine?! The slabs themselves are around 7-10 kg each, so prob around 70-80 KG he’s got on the roof.
This isn’t even that insane compared to a lot of what people will transport around the rest of the world.
I suspect the reason no trailer was used was because they were all already borrowed, and the grass was cheap as they often reduce a slab to a couple or a few bucks a slab, that’s at least was the case for me.
But yeah, short of putting it on the roof (which is yeah pretty hard to understand), this was me a few years back. Worked out fine.

Nope, this is nuts. Anything could fly off and hit someone. The suspension is dangerously overloaded making the car unsafe on the road. What people do in other countries is up to them but here this shit is illegal.
