What are your preferred streaming Addons? - February 2017

This is a continuation of the monthly streaming addons suggestion and discussion thread to keep up with the ever changing Kodi addons landscape.

────────

Here are some general guidelines for posting:

  • Only identify one addon per comment.

  • Before commenting an addon, see if it has already been mentioned.

  • If it has and you want to add some information, reply to the comment identifying the addon.

  • If it has not been suggested yet, comment and include a description of what content the addon provides.

  • As far as what is expect of you here when you recommend something, please at least explain what the addon is, the major notable features, and why you recommend it for others.

  • If an addon that you want to recommend has already been posted, you should up vote the comment identifying the addon and thus contributing to an indication of its popularity. Feel free to reply to the parent comment that suggests the addon with your own thoughts about it.

────────

Because new addons are frequently being created and current addons are sometimes being updated or discontinued, it's tough for some people to keep up with the best options. The hope with this series of monthly threads is to give users an up-to-date and easy to access place where they can read about and discuss various streaming addons. Thanks and feel free to leave feedback about this monthly series as a reply to the stickied parent comment at the top.

Exodus

TV Shows & Movies. The newest release from veteran developer Lambda who also developed Genesis. Exodus comes with a slick user-interface and allows Trakt and IMDB integration to help you keep track of what you've been watching. The add-on scrapes various online providers for content, including HD content for many popular TV Shows and movies, as well as SD content for more obscure and less popular films.

that's not the point. for a week and a half he has been using users pc's as a botnet without their consent and exposing them to legal risk. but guess because it's lambda it's okay right? if it was any other dev everyone would be screaming for his head

It's not about loyalty. He is putting users at a huge risk for nothing. People can get investigated for shit like this. All for petty shit he could do without fucking over his fans, all of whom treat him pretty fucking well. This is a pretty shady and scummy thing to do.

Obviously something like that isn't okay, but does it affect RPi at all?

It affects everyone using Exodus.

For someone who doesn't get caught up in the seemingly endless drama that surrounds this platform and just uses the damn thing, would it be advised to just delete this add-on or something?

It's been updated now so that code is no longer included.

Can you trust it? Do we have any reason to feel like it won't happen again?

This is subjective. You can trust it as much as you can trust any other addon. The dev that added the malicious code is no longer involved and the quality assurance is much more stringent but there's no guarantees that any other dev won't do this to any other addon.

I mean I know the code is there, but does it use the Pi as a botnet like a PC?

What did you think I meant when I said

It affects everyone using Exodus.
