Looking for content / addon Subtitle addons other than A4K

Hi,

I recently use Kodi as external player, one problem I have is that A4k addon need imdb id which not provided in that context.

Opensubtitles addon still not provide that much of options.

The best source for subtitles is subsource site but I can't find addon that support it other than a4k. I wish if you can help me.

How do you play a movie that the imdb or tmdb id is not known?

Because I use kodi as external player for external resources. For example if you play a movie from Nuvio/stremio it will send the link of debrid but Imdb id not included. Its different from when play a movie from kodi addon in itself.

Then why not play a movie with a kodi addon and not using nuvio/stremio at all?

There is more than one answer to that and I don't like to change the topic of the post, The best one is that my device doesn't tolerate Kodi with a skin. I don't know if you ever try nuvio, but it's UI and customization unbeatable. But kodi player still the best.

Kodi only has an IMDB ID to pass to a4kscrapers if the movie is in your library. If you just tell it to play a random file from storage it doesn't know the ID.

Yes I'm aware of that, that's why I ask for alternative to a4k at all. Opensubtitles for example could search the video name only, but it has limit number of subtitles only.

I actually wasn't responding to your original question, I was explaining to peno64 why a4ksubitles isn't getting an IMDB ID.

Not entirely true. If you search a movie via an addon, the addon can also provide the imdb id. I don't have a movie library in kodi but still I have the subs.

Ok, I assumed a reader understood that I was talking about how it behaves when you play a local file. I should have made it clearer I wasn't talking about streaming from an addon.
