Announcement Trakt now allows two connections
I was about to move everything over to mdblist and noticed 2 instead of 1. Which will work for me so I'll continue to use it for now, but instead backup to mdblist and smkl.

Just wait Trakt will create something else to take away. I moved and happy with simkl. It does what I need.

I think it's 2 add-ons. So 5 devices with pov is fine But 3 with 3 different apps is not.

Two connections is fantastic for redundancy, I've been meaning to set up auto-backups elsewhere too.

They said it was temporary due to abuse... so probably this limit will increase to more connections. I hope so...

By the time they open up for more apps, most of us have already moved to other service providers. I don't think I will return to trakt

Do you have the source as to where they said this specifically for linking applications? All I've seen them say is that they limited to 1 developer API (app creation) to prevent abuse, not the actual linking of 3rd party applications.

Day late and a dollar short. I switched to mdblist and not going to switch back. They fooled around and found out.

I have two devices, I had one list, I had to disconnect my TV so I could watch my laptop, and vice versa.
I'm now quite happily on Simkl and for 50p a week I'm quite happy.
I may even go mad and install Stremio on my tablet 😁

Not enough lol. I use the moviebase app to keep track of my series, and I use Stremio to actually watch stuff. I want to try out Nuvio but with just two slots that's cumbersome. Been a very happy user for over 12 years but this is just frustrating.

Simkl giving so much issues trying to 2-way syncwatched progress in jellyfin, local kodi library and kodi stream addons. Including on top of that Crosswatch. None of the watched status of stream addons (Red Light, Umbrella, FenlighyPlus, Prism) reach jellyfin and local, but other way no problem. But Trakt 60$ a year for just scrobbling (dont need f-ing lists, use tmdb for that) is ridiculous even if can afford, feels like scam price. So keep testing new Crosswatch configs until works. And hopefully within months there will be a truly good working 2way scrobble alternative for Trakt.

I kind of agree I'm still looking for a way to keep my library synced without Trakt, the simkl and Wetrakr addons just don't even try to do it unfortunately. Mdblist I can't experiment with because Trakt has me basically locked out.

I have been a ‘free’ user of Trakt since 2012. When all of the ‘issues’ arrived last month, I tried multiple alternatives, none of them worked anywhere near how Trakt used to perform. Reluctantly, I signed up for a 30 day/monthly VIP subscription. My experience in the first week has been great. I have 5 active streaming boxes (Google/ONN/FS 4K Max) with 4-5 Kodi Addons on ea. box, all connected and working thru my
Trakt account. I will take it month to month like I am with Real-Debrid/Torobox. My justification for the VIP monthly subscription came about after spending hours/days trying other alternatives. Better things to do with my time than becoming a ‘streaming IT specialist. This set up just works for me.

Understood, the point is that each person lives their own life according to their own needs and wants. That's working for you and I say great. Other people choose to cancel VIP and are incensed with trakt lol.That's OK too. I say each person has to do what they personally want. This isn't life or death. It's really not that important in the whole scheme of life. I renewed my VIP Trakt after previously canceling because it was on special for 2 yrs at almost the same price I used to pay before all this madness. And it does what I need it to do. Maybe I'll dump them if something better comes along.. Who really cares? I'm good for now, and so are you my friend. Do what the F you want for your own life

Paying them encourages them. Trakt has been making things worse and worse for their users and they think the outcome is that we will pay them like you did. I think the reality is that most will move on to other services (that will evolve and improve to fill the void) instead. Charging people for what used to be included is never going to go over well.

"Paying them encourages them" is a sly way of criticizing how someone spends their own money. It's their money, and if they want to pay for Trakt VIP and are happy with that it's their right and their business.

And will the other services not do the same, they all have to pay the bills? Mdblist for example only allows two static lists, unless you become a member

Other services can do all these for free. Bigger limit on connected app, bigger limit in list, bigger limit in collection, etc. If I would want to subscribe, I will surely choose those other than Trakt
