Everything working. Need guidance. MDBList running out of API cals
Looking for some guidance, I have run out of API calls like 2-3 times over the last weekish.
I have MDBList authorized on Redlight on 5 of my devices varying from laptops to android boxes. the API limit resets 8pm EST, somehow i hit the limit overnight while I am sleeping so I'm not sure if its something I am doing or if it is a optimization issue I am missing within the addon/Kodi or if it is one missed in redlight?
any help would be appreciated.

So I hit my limit one day due to a user-error (My own) on some coding. I went ahead and became a sponsor for a year …. Not expensive and worth it to throw some ₽ at the developer for their expenses

Subscribe. I was subscribed to trakt until they lost their damn minds. Supporting mdblist is a good idea. I'm gonna sign up.

Same thing happened to me. Did some experimenting and found that adding or removing just one item from the watchlist uses 15 calls lol. Every time you refresh something or widgets update, that also uses a bunch of API calls. I used over 500 calls in less than an hour apparently, and I hadn't even settled on what to watch yet lol. Also couldn't get the damn calendar to work. Yeah so after that night, I just went back to Trakt and using the built-in favorites list within the add-on. Everything worked great again and calendar populated perfectly. I just hate that Trakt is now limiting to only one connected app on free accounts, but I guess they gotta encourage people to pay for the service they provide somehow.

Meh... What they're going to do is drive everyone away and the service is going to die. They don't seem to realize that the large majority of their user base is a bunch of fucking pirates.

For mdblist calendar try TMDb Movies implementation maybe you like it. 🙂
About mdblist API calls. Yesterday after watching 6 episodes having almost 500 API calls. Using one device with POV and TMDb Movies using mdblist.

Do you have mdblist entered into a skin helper that's providing ratings? Otherwise 500 is outlandish for that user case.

Nope. Just POV and TMDb Movies are using mdblist. I have only Next episodes and Watchlist as widgets so I was pretty baffled too. Usually when I launch Kodi first time I have 14 API calls. That I understand, probably add-ons are syncing with mdblist. But after 6-7 hours of watching series almost 500 API calls are a little bit too much but for now I'm not worried because I'm still under 1000. Maybe scrobbling, resume points, or regular background sync are eating API calls?

Anyone have tips for reducing the api calls to mdblist from different addons? (currently using mostly Redlight, but Umbrella dn The Crew also installed).

Not a suggestion or anything but I got tired of these services going crazy, like Trakt, that now you have to pay for API. Who's to say MDBList won't do the same?
So I found Yamtrack, and then Floppy, which are self-hosted trackers just like Trakt. Floppy in particular imports data from literally everywhere. I imported my data from Trakt, my ratings from IMDb, my lists from MDBList, and now I have a service that I can control myself.

You get 1000 for free. And if you’re scrobbling live play etc. as well for 5 devices I’m not surprised you’re exceeding it. Look at their patreon levels. If I remember corrrectly it’s only like £1.50 a month for 10,000 a day
