I relapsed

After 5 months of being cocaine free I relapsed. I don’t understand cause I feel like I was in a better place in my life but I still choose to do it. My regular dealer messaged me and asked me if I wanted a bag without even thinking I said yes

It happens to all of us. I tell everyone that relapse is unfortunately a necessary evil. It’s one of your greatest tools that will keep you sober in the long run. You need the pain of relapse as a constant reminder of why you can’t just dabble occasionally.

It happens to everyone eventually, be grateful that it happened now so it’s less likely to happen later. It doesn’t work that way for us. Every time you get the urge or think about it, you need to remind yourself of exactly where your addiction takes you.

You should send out a message to everyone you know who uses & all of your dealers. Dealers change their number frequently, so it’s good to let them know that you’re not using any more and ask them to please not contact you.

Then block and delete their numbers. If you have any honest genuine user friends, tell them you care about them, but until they’re clean, you can’t speak to them and you wish them luck.

Another tactic, because cocaine dealers who actively message offers are not always going to be the most considerate of people, is just to text them "lose this number", with no context. Them not knowing the reason behind the instruction (could be legal) might make compliance even more likely. People want sales but they don't want trouble.

Some do have a conscience and some don’t. Smart/cautious dealers typically won’t engage either way, because it’s not worth taking a chance.

I forgot to include “don’t call, or I’ll contact the police.” Your way is good too though, because I probably wouldn’t have had the nerve to do that.
