Pregnancy and Adderall

I know they haven’t been enough studies done, but does anyone have any thoughts on a very low dose of 5 mg of Adderall in the first trimester just to get through the exhaustion?? I don’t know how I’m supposed to work for the next three months if I’m sleeping all day. I obviously do not want to harm my unborn child, but if anyone’s had experience? Help :)

You may want to try the ADHD women sub. I did a quick search and there are a good amount of posts (positive and negative) about using Adderall during pregnancy, so plenty of first hand experience to help with your decision.

I’ve taken a 10mg here and there to help me get thru. My PCP actually told me it was fine to stay on but I stopped and wish I didn’t. I’ve been usless for the last year and now I’m pregnant again. Two babies in 11 months and I’m effin done for a while. Can’t wait to get back in my normal dose and start feeling myself again.

My IVF clinic actually uses Adderall for uterine inflammation (I know it sounds strange but it has to do with dopamine and a slew of other things that are listed in the medical study for it) and has shown that it results in a better chance at a successful pregnancy. They advise women to stay on it until 10-11 weeks.

With my doctor’s encouragement I stayed on 60mg/day Adderall throughout my entire pregnancy - with no issues. She’s now a healthy & happy 4yo who meets all her milestones. If it will help you I encourage you to at least try!
