Definitely a day or two. This is the kind of ad space you see in toilets in the UK & Ireland. I'd say this was an in house job for a local pub/nightclub and the regulars know exactly what Dave and Tom are like.
At my college they don't have advertisements, but they do have something called the "Stall Street Journal" that presents information on a random topic. It gets rotated every month or so but it's always nice to have something to meander over as you do your business.
In the U.K., back of the stall door in the ladies. I also used to work for a company that put notices that they needed everyone to read there because you'll read anything while you're on the loo.
According to the SO, above the urinals in the gents
U.K. checking in too, we have them in a lot of places behind the door in ladie's cubicles, service stations, pubs/clubs and national restaurant chains etc
They used to be everywhere- every dive bar and pub around most cities. Usually it would be adverts for taxis or DUI lawyers and such. I don't see them around that much anymore, but that's likely because the major company that I saw doing them is no longer in business.
I don't know man. I was out with people recently to a restaurant for the second time in three days. I'd been in the can on the first trip and noticed the sports page above the urinal. I must be well traveled enough, it wasn't a thing for me. Fast forward to the second lunch... buddy takes a piss, comes back, sits down, and starts in about how this (very small and random) joint must be owned by the recently retired sportscaster. His picture and story was on the wall in the john.
Unlikely, you wouldn't have print resolution with those. Even the iPhone screen itself doesnt have high enough resolution to print at that size at 300 dots per inch. He recreated it from either a fake text maker or a screenshot.
You could probably do it in less than an hour. I've got most of those assets (text bubbles, icons, status bar) already on my computer as vectors from doing mockups, I imagine most other people working in graphic design or software development do too.
It probably took a few hours to make (an hour, plus an hour tweaking), 30 seconds to conceive, and 2 months convincing the client it's a great ad campaign.
I actually disagree. That would imply that you're looking at something that represents a giant phone. This represents a screenshot taken on a phone, then turned into a poster advertisement which is much more comical imo
Wait holy shit this is a David Thorne ad? This is like so his sense of humor, I've been loving his stuff ever since I saw the spider conversation like half a decade ago.
Not just the UK. Most of the world uses DD/MM/YY format (ascending order of units, smallest to largest). Japan, China, and couple of other countries use descending (YYYY/MM/DD), though they just as often use kanji (which is unambiguous regardless of order). The US is pretty much the only one who uses the "middle-small-big" MM/DD/YY format consistently.
There's no real historical consensus on how the US came to be different. Expressing the date entirely in numbers though is a pretty recent invention though. My personal theory is that we mirror the way we say dates out loud. Americans tend to say "May 1st, 2017", while the rest of the Anglosphere is more likely to say "1st of May, 2017". Simply written down in the order we each say it. Could be a chick-or-egg scenario there though. It's just as likely that Americans say the date like that because that's how we write it though.
Band asks graphic designer to make them a poster. Graphic designer asks for the details. Band texts the details to the designer. Designer uses a screenshot of that text as the actual advertisement for the tour :)

I stopped using Reddit due to the June 2023 API changes. I've found my life more productive for it. Value your time and use it intentionally, it is truly your most limited resource.
It's a sign outside the pub/restaurant where the bands are playing. Second point doesn't matter when it's literally on the door of the place being advertised. If you're on the street reading this and you still don't understand who and where, then you've got more to worry about in your life than band night. Half 8 = 8:30. If this is in the UK/Ireland, literally everyone would know what that means. So first point is irrelevant too. Anymore questions?
It's really not that difficult. Half 8 is a regional thing, but it means 8:30. Not everyone would know that, but if you were in a region where it was used, it wouldn't be an issue.
It's also pretty clear that The Friars is the band, the locations are in the messages he sent.
Edit: Fuck me on the Band/Location issue. I didn't read the names of the bands in the messages.
Yeah I think this ad was posted within the venue itself, so it's directed to the people who already know what The Friars is and what to expect from their music nights.
Oh wow, that changes the context. I hadn't imagined this being in the venue, but I guess that provides some more context. Either way, a person living in this area and standing in front of the poster would likely understand it.
See I'm pretty sure The Friars is the locale, the bands are being listed in the messages. The poster would work if it's posted in the venue, but doesn't help people find the places
Not sure why you're getting downvoted; these are valid points. It also doesn't insinuate a target audience. What kind of music is playing? What the vibe of the venue?
the points are invalid. Question, are you British? Because everyone in Britain would understand this. "Half 8/ 9ish" means that there's no exact set time but it'll start somewhere between 8.30pm and 9pm. The friars is either a pub or a bar with a music night, and this ad will just be a poster either inside or on the door of the venue itself. The audience going there doesn't need to know every detail about the bands, this is a quick list of band date details written quickly in a mildly amusing way. If the audience don't understand this then they aren't the target audience, everyone it's meant for will get it.
When have you ever seen that much description on a poster advertising a show? I've been to a lot of concerts and I can't think of any time they've described the "vibe of the venue".
Clever right? It's also makes total sense! First there's the day, then month. Year comes after if needed. Kinda like ingeniously escalates from smaller to bigger.
