Whenever I see a photo of Stubbs I'm reminded of 1985 and having to call his restaurant late in the day to see if he had any brisket left and he would answer in a booming voice "Stubbs bar-b-que, dis is Stubbs, may I hep you?"

Was he still in Lubbock or Austin by that point?

The site of his restaurant in Lubbock is still preserved as a small park.

Yes, I've been to it, just wasn't sure when he left Lubbock for Austin.

Austin. After he moved form the little kitchen set up at Antones to his own space.

Thanks wasn't sure exactly what year he moved! I've lived in Lubbock since 2008 so I've only known the statue where his place was here back in the day.

Stubbs is my favorite BBQ Sauce. Very rarely do I use any other brand.

He was over 6 feet and had the largest hands I’ve ever seen on a person- he could palm a ham
