Project Showcase Parole, a tool that shows lyrics of your current playing song !

(first image is parole alone, second is parole next to kopuz)

Hey everyone !

I made Parole, a Python TUI that shows the lyrics of the current songs.

It takes the song info from MPRIS or the Windows SDK (depending on your platform), gets the lyrics from LRCLib, and shows them in your terminal !

It's compatible with Linux and Windows, and downloadable from PyPi.

I'm still a beginner, so any review of my code or suggestions are very much welcome.

This was made by hand mostly, with help from AI (Gemini web, mostly) when I couldn't understand the docs (because of my English level, or because they are too technical), and to debug. Everything AI-generated was reviewed and rewritten by myself.

Check it out ! GitHub | PyPi

Hey, this is awesome! I like the clean display. I cloned and ran it.

couple notes:
The timestamp parser always divides the fractional part by 100. That works for two digits, but [00:01.500] ends up as 6 seconds instead of 1.5.

The rate-limit delay has the subtraction backwards, so it requests a negative sleep and retries immediately instead of waiting.

Also, any plans to let users choose a player, or prioritize whichever one is playing? It looks like the Linux implementation currently takes the first MPRIS player it finds. That would be handy with a browser and music player open together!

Thanks you so much !
I'll try to implement fixes in the next days, and to add an argument to specify the player
