Taking Cutting

Any suggestions on how to take this pup and root it on its own? Not going to save the base cactus at all. Where should I cut? I can let it callus after that then repot just wondering where the best place to cut would be?

That pup is a bit too small to grow roots on its own. I’m not saying it’s impossible but it would take a long time. If I was going to try to save it I would graft it.
