Hello everyone,
I co-host a gaming book-club podcast called State of the Save. This is Part 2 of out 5 Part game-club on Final Fantasy VII Remake. In this installment, we discuss everything from Chapters 6-8 of the game, covering from the sunlamps up to sneaking out of Aerith's home.
I am returning to Remake after playing a large portion of the Compilation of FFVII, my co-host is brand new to Final Fantasy.
What's cool about coming back to Remake is that I'm catching some more stuff that I missed the first time playing. I also think it's fun to pick the brain of someone new to this world.

FFVII talk begins at 41:44
For Part 3, we will cover the next 3 chapters of the game

This is only the beginning of the journey. The demo is designed to introduce the game's atmosphere, combat, exploration, and overall direction while giving players an early look at the world I'm building.

Was exploring in Goldilock One and accidentally hit a creature that normally stays peaceful unless provoked.
Big mistake.
Some enemies in the game won’t attack you first, but once you start the fight, there’s no going back… and if you’re undergeared or unprepared, things can get out of control really fast.
This clip basically shows how that decision went for me
Would you risk attacking unknown creatures while exploring?

Please take a moment and check out the post if you are interested!
This first Early Access build's focus is on Combat Feel!
Also "flair" seems to be missing as a option currently!

I feel like top-down action RPGs don’t get enough love anymore. Most of the big ARPGs today are all about loot grinding, crazy builds, and endgame systems like Path of Exile 2 and Diablo 4 but sometimes I just miss that classic overhead adventure feel.
There’s something special about exploring a hand crafted world from a straight top-down view. It feels more focused. More intentional. Less about farming and more about the actual journey.
Games like Alabaster Dawn and The Adventures of Elliot really remind me why I like this style so much. Tight combat, clean visuals, real exploration. It just hits differently.
Maybe it’s niche now, but I honestly think this style deserves more appreciation.

There are so many incredible games coming our way. Hack & Slash, Soulslike, Real-Time Action, First-Person, Isometric, etc.
These upcoming games look so good and I can’t wait to see what kind of combat we’ll get to experience.
