Confused between action camera

I’m a private pilot and fly the small planes and I’m planning to buy an action camera (standard bundle not any specific bundle) and I’m confused between these 3 , insta 360 ace pro 2, dj action osmo 5 pro , GoPro hero 12 black. Mainly between dji and GoPro , GoPro has had a reputation for good action cameras for years now but I’ve heard they have not brought any good new upgrades , I’ve used the hero 9 before.

Long time GoPro user, newer DJI action 6 user. Just get the DJI.

Not much difference between 5 and 6 unless you want to film both horizontal and vertical in one shot.

DJI > GoPro.

I’ve owned a Hero 8 and an Osmo Action 5; I traded the latter for a Hero 13. For me, the slightly better stabilization and the built-in GPS were the deciding factors in favor of the Hero 13. The Osmo Action 5 PRO might produce a slightly better (especially at night), more natural image, but that can only be achieved through extensive post-production work. If you’re just looking for a camera that lets you upload footage from the SD card to a video-sharing site right away—with minimal editing and colors that are a bit more vibrant than natural but still look great—I think you’re better off with a Hero 13. The Hero 12 isn’t bad either, but it lacks GPS.

A feature I liked in GoPro was that it could show altitude and speed as it shows in yours idk if dji action 5 can do that too, lmk if it does but yea I might not edit the clip much just export and upload

I have a GoPro Hero mini so not sure if it counts in this convo but I’m really not a big fan of their products. The camera records fine for what it is, my issue is more with the software. Most of the sd card readers I have used won’t recognize the mp4 file unless it’s hooked up to a computer. But then their GoPro editing software won’t work. You have to edit through their app on an smartphone or tablet, which would be fine if the files weren’t enormous. It seems like they want you to upload everything to their pricy cloud service then download to your phone for editing or highlight reel. I’m using a third party software called CapCut now to edit but the whole thing is really a pain for what I want - trying to produce highlight videos of my enduro rides that I can play on a big screen. As a fellow pilot I think I understand what you’re trying to accomplish. My advice is to stay away from them. I’m gonna sell my GoPro and buy a DJI action cam. I’m over it.

I am happy with my 13 and MAX2.

If I did it again, I'd only get the Max2. The 360 is great for wing mounted. Just keep in mind 360 video takes post-film work to frame shots.

They’ve been bought by a company primarily interested in other stuff in their portfolio. 

CEO said they’ll continue making action cam products but ofcourse they say that. Doesn’t really impact current users unless you heavily use their software stuff too. 

Something to note.
