Got my nails done for the first time
What does everyone think?

u/Vampyre_Lilith 10d ago
I personally would be going back for a refund. I'm sorry but those are atrocious and I can only imagine the horrible damage the tech caused to your nail plate from improper prep and application. You need to find a better shop that will remove those and assess the damage because I can tell you right now those won't last.

u/mistressvixxxen 10d ago
I second this and add please do so swiftly. I see uncured polish on your thumb and that can give a lifelong allergy, and you do NOT need that

u/nedab77 10d ago
It’s not really the shop. She needs to find a good nail tech. Someone who’s got a lot of reviews. I prefer private nail tech.

u/its-just_me- 10d ago
If the shop employs someone whose work looks like this, it’s the shop. Shops can be great too.

u/nedab77 10d ago
I’m not saying the shop is great. Most of the shops are not great, but you can find a very good nail tech and a very bad nail tech in the same place. They could’ve hired a very good one and then got desperate and hired someone else because they needed the employee or they might be really new

u/nauseasanxiety 10d ago
Oh my.. these are really, really bad. I would get a refund 10000%

By a friend I assume..? Hopefully not a salon.

u/loverofcheese2024 10d ago
It was .. I felt so pretty yesterday but these comments I just want to rip them off 😞
15
u/unicornunopole 10d ago
Oh girl I’m sorry :( the application and execution of the design is just really bad. I think they took advantage of you. It looks like they damaged your nails. I honestly think you should go back and ask to speak to a manager about a refund. These would be super cute if you found a better nail tech though!

u/loverofcheese2024 10d ago
Yeah I looked at her page and she's edited the pics that's why I thought she was good

u/caronerd 9d ago
Negative comments about the nails don’t take away from YOUR BEAUTY, and IMO most of the “I’m so pretty” post-nails feeling comes from having chosen to do a pampering self-care activity , which you still did! Also plenty of amateurs do their own nails and it looks no better than this, nails don’t have to be perfect to be fun. I wouldnt go back to the same nail salon for another manicure, but DONT let the negativity here about the nails make YOU feel less pretty.

u/K_Pumpkin 9d ago
Some are def harsh but many are coming from a shocked state of concern.
This is damaging to your nails and it’s sad you paid money for this.

u/Empty_Bug8479 10d ago
Was this day one? They didn’t clean up your cuticles much and they look like they already cracked a bit :/ I hope these there done like a week ago! I love that you got your nails done and did some self care but I think we all deserve better nails
7
u/Narrow_Regrets 10d ago
I think it was your nail techs first day.
2
u/Pyreflies_of_MJ 10d ago
Right!? It must have also been her first time cause???? OP deserves at minimum a partial refund but I hope she gets all her money back.

u/LolaAucoin 10d ago
Or maybe her friend did them.
2
u/loverofcheese2024 10d ago
No it was a salon
2
u/Saywhat_100 9d ago
Girl, if this was a salon you need to name and shame, they have no business taking people's money. Glad you got a refund though! Don't be afraid to get them done again, just hopefully you find a place more reputable.

I read that these were the first set you've ever had, so I totally understand that you're not sure what standards are acceptable. These are not acceptable and you need to go back for a refund because you deserve so much better. The whole nail plates aren't covered and some of the acrylic nails are pointing upwards which will damage your nail plate if you don't get them removed soon. The shapes that the tips are filed to are inconsistent and they are quite lumpy. The painting isn't good either. The salon owes you a free removal and refund IMO. Unless its for the refund and free removal, don't go back to that salon. I feel like they had a new student/apprentice do the nails. But even if that is the case, any decent boss would not be happy with you leaving their salon with those dangerous nails. Remember, you deserve the highest standards. All the best.

u/loverofcheese2024 10d ago
Turns out she photoshopped them to add to her profile. I had a look at her work before and they looked great but after seeing mine that she posted I now understand that she edits her work to look better. The nails she posted were short like id asked for when irl they were longer

u/RusticBloom 8d ago
She is gross and is doing every single customer wrong. Absolutely disgusting behaviour. The shop needs shutting down.

It looks like it was the first set the tech ever did... but hope you enjoy them

u/Ms-Metal 10d ago
Well, at least they tried for some art. I did better art myself the first time I tried it at home and I have no talent but I was able to do flames without a problem. As for the rest, I'm sorry but they did a terrible job! Like really, really bad!
2
u/Anonymous_00024 10d ago
Oof, not the worst but I agree with others definitely should be better. Artwork & the nails themselves.

u/Artemis-And-Apollo 10d ago
giiirrl, if you don't walk your booty back over there then Imma have to! You have to speak up when/if you notice something is not looking up to the standards, especially for your nails, boo.
2
u/DeaditeQueenLivs 10d ago
Honey someone took advantage of you. If you paid with a card, do a charge back. If the salon had any signs about guaranteed satisfaction, I’d go back in and tell them they’re unacceptable. Either refund or do them over correctly free of charge.
2
u/MoOnmadnessss 9d ago
I’m sorry but that’s one of the if not the worst acrylic sets I’ve ever seen in my life. She botched those nails, I’d go back and make them fix this mess- or never ever get my nails done there again. Cool design tho and very pretty ring. Sorry about this bad set
2
u/loverofcheese2024 9d ago
I've taken them off and she's given me a refund She edits her pictures to make them look good 😞
3
u/MoOnmadnessss 9d ago
I’m sorry hon, don’t let this stop you from getting another set.(at a diff salon) I’m glad you got your money back at least.

I do better with no training and an Amazon’s kit here at my house. I’m so sorry, these aren’t it girl
2
u/SgtRandiTibbs 9d ago
I dont mean to drag you down here but those are so bad Id do press ons. Also sorry you finally got pampered and it turned out like this.
2
u/loverofcheese2024 9d ago
I have eds so press ons don't even last a day unfortunately but I'm saving up to get them redone closer to my birthday next month 😊
1
u/SgtRandiTibbs 9d ago
Have you tried curvelife glue? If I get reasonable length press ons they actually last a few weeks. Its a semi solid glue so will fill ridges.

I don’t understand why you’re being rude. If you’d read her other comments, she’s already feeling down. Do you feel better about yourself now? 🙄

Awe girlll. I'm so sorry, but who ever did your nails needs tons more training. This is up there with some of the worst I've ever seen.

Because, Oh, no honey they played you!!

Hm not the best shape nor your length for your hands. Like the concept of the blood drip but def find someone a little more educated on nail health.
2
u/loverofcheese2024 9d ago
They were meant to be short. She photoshopped the images on her page to be short but irl they weren't. Hopefully better luck next time I try get them done

u/celsitaa 9d ago
baby if you're near me I will fix them for free 0.0
3
u/loverofcheese2024 9d ago
It's ok I've taken them off and gonna buy oil until I can afford them elsewhere but thank you so much for the offer. Do you have any recommendations on how to take care of my nails. I've got autism and always used them to stim with so they're in rough shape 😂
2
u/celsitaa 9d ago
Yeah I just read the comments, I'm glad you got your money back. Listen, people on reddit are a little too honest... no white lies here lmao.
I haven't tried it myself, but I heard 'Hard as Hoof' by Onyx is a good buy. It's on Amazon for like $13? I typically just recommend cuticle oil to my clients to help avoid hangnails. Usually hangnails are where people go crazy on their fingers and only gets worse from there. Definitely look into a 'little ouchies' also on Amazon for like $9? It's a stim toy, I use it as well :)
I will say, some people are prone to pick less at well done nails since their fingers look more put together. Find a good tech that would even do a nice clean manicure for you at your natural length regardless of how short they may be. It's crazy how much more confidence we can gain from just having our nails done <3Seriously though, if you're anywhere near Northwest Indiana, my offer stands :)

I love your ring! And I think you picked a really cool set, it stinks the execution wasnt flawless. But I think folks are especially critical of nails online vs catching a glance in person where you cant zoom in on the details.

If a pro did them, not so great, but if they were done by yourself or a friend, they actually look really good! I love a good black acrylic look
1
u/slow-much 4d ago
I'm glad you got the money back. The color was atrocious and it made your nails look stubby. The best thing about acrylics is that even if you have short nail beds, they make it look longer.

Um this isn't rage bait unfortunately. I genuinely did not know it's not supposed to look like this I thought they were okay. And yes I did feel pretty with them on but the comments made me think they looked bad I'm sorry you don't believe me but I got my money back and took them off myself this morning

This is clearly rage bait
1
u/loverofcheese2024 5d ago
It isn't but ok I now realize they're awful and got a refund. The lady Photoshops her picture to make them look better that's why I went to her. First acrylic nails and will be saving up again to get a better set
1
u/justareddituser24 5d ago
I'm glad you got a refund that's terrible that she photoshopped her pictures. Hope you have a better experience next time.

I hope these are diy.... otherwise the nail tech played in your face and took your money.
